About the Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor the Senior Maintenance Technician reole is to install, maintain, improve, and repair equipment. Ensure that plant equipment runs at maximum efficiency and output. This includes total preventative maintenance, managing breakdowns of mechanical, electrical, and robotic equipment. Assist in assessing and training of A and B Maintenance Technicians. Successful candidate must have a strong knowledge of PLC Controls and can apply this knowledge without hesitation. Additionally, the Senior Maintenance position is responsible for ensuring projects are completed correctly and on time to schedule, ensuring completion of maintenance related audits and activities, ensuring resources are used properly.

Your Responsibilities

  • Responisble for maintianing safe working conditions while adhering to all Safety Rules at SHSS. Follows and promotes all Plant Standards, [p;ocoes, procedures and ensures compliance to the SHSS Employee Handbook. Responsible to ensure compliance to the correct and safe way to operate and repair equipment, follows all instructions, and complies with Company Standards on the use of personal protective equipment, lockouts, and hot work permits. Responisibilities include recognizing and rectifying all unsafe working conditions while maintaining excellent housekeeping and 5S principals and standards at SHSS.
  • Attend breakdowns, identify fault and problem saolve with minimal downtime to production
  • Carry out diagnosis of faults, the maintenance, and reapairs to types of plant equipment in a safe, timely and professional manner and return equipment to operational service.
  • Maintaining the EOS log to ensure communication across shifts.
  • Maintaining the PLC Change Matrix to ensure communication across shifts.
  • Maintaining the Call Log to ensure communication across shifts.
  • Maintaining the PM system
  • Enusre that all maintenance departmental objectives and activities partticipated in at SHSS are aligned to the Magna Employee Charter and Magna Corporate Constitution.
  • Perform mechanical predictive and preventative maintenance work. Plan and repair work on machines, tooling, and fixtures to ensure daily assembly production targets are obtained. Perform electrical predictive and preventative maintenance work and complete assigned work orders on a timely basis.
  • Responsibilities include mantaining and optimizing shop floor control systems including the Manufacturing Execution System (MES). The successful candidate will provide technical support to problme solving activities while interfacing with all other facility employees.
  • Work in conjunction with other employees to complete assigned tasks involved in Continuous Improvement activities supporting all other departments.
  • Support new program development and participate in the selection of equipment. Support continuous improvement initiatives by constantly looking for ways of improving equipment reliability, cycle times and techincal standardization .
  • Ability to learn new processes and keep up to date with new technologies within the field and able to take training as required.
  • May suggest design changes and/or modifications of tools for improved usage. Perform tool changes and tryouts for tooling improvments.
  • Provide process information, , automated equipment utilization and assist management team in achieving goals and objextives of the SHSS facility.
  • Perform sepcial projects in suppor of the organizations business objectives
  • Other projects and duties as assigned

Who we are looking for

  • University degree or College diploma in related field, certification in Industrial Electricity or Electronics required or a minimum of 8 years experience in Industrial Electricity. Experience in Hydraulics / Pneumatics and Fabricating is preferred. Knowledge of manufacturing, maintenance operations and related processes with 5 years progressive experience in an automotive (JIT) Tier 1 manufacturing environment.
  • Must have good leadership skills and excellent interpersonal skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to work independently and strong project management skills
