Description and Requirements
Lenovo is seeking a talented and dynamic senior legal counsel to manage legal and compliance issues of Lenovo's majority-owned subsidiary, which is starting with smart supply chain solutions. The position will report to the Legal Director of Lenovo and engage directly with the subsidiary's executives and teams. The position will be located in Beijing, China.
Job Responsibilities
(Essential functions and duties):
1. To provide strategic legal advice and counsel in investing and setting up legal entities outside China.
2. To provide legal support to business team in operations and governance going forward, including contract review, employment legal support, regulatory compliance, company policies compliance, dispute resolution and litigation, corporate governance, training, etc.
3. To act as an interface and liaison to the subsidiary for other Lenovo legal functions such as ethics and compliance, trade compliance, data privacy, anti-trust, IP as well as regional legal teams.
4. To proactively coordinate with internal legal teams and outside counsels to ensure appropriate legal and compliance support and controls are provided.
5. The candidate is expected to be knowledgeable in the business models of supply chain and other technology sectors and be proactive in offering advice and opinions on business and legal issues in order to assist in driving the business owners to achieve desired results.
6. The candidate is expected to grow into a role where they are seen as a trusted business advisor and team member pursuing key global business initiatives.
Prior work experience:
1. At least 10 years of law firm and in-house experience, multinational enterprise, or overseas study/work background is preferred.
2. Solid experience in outbound investment, M&A, and compliance in at least one of the areas, i.e. ethics compliance, trade compliance, and data/privacy compliance.
3. Experience engaging with colleagues and outside counsels globally is preferred.
4. Practical experience in supply chain and/or logistics-related industries is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Competencies (KSAC's):
1. Have good risk identification, analytical capability, research, management and control-related business perception.
2. Ability to balance risk allocation and develop mitigation strategies.
3. Strong and confident communication skills, with the ability to advocate legal positions, and simplify complex legal issues into coherent, actionable business requirements.
4. Excellent collaboration, project facilitation, and negotiation skills.
5. Strong learning ability and adaptability.
6. Excellent English listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
Educational Requirements:
Master's degree in Law or above from top tier school.
