• About Lenovo F&A and this role
Lenovo F&A (管理財務部) houses a variety of roles from FP&A・Controller (経営管理), to Accounting, Tax, and Treasury/AR, offering a wide variety of skill and career development opportunities.
The Japan Commercial Controller works to support Japan Commercial Business and his/her sales/operation in driving business growth. S/he will be responsible for providing financial insights focusing on commercial activities. The ideal candidate will have strong understanding of the financial principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate/influence various stakeholders. We expect that an expertise is ideal / experience is required in the IT hardware / services industry to succeed in this role.
• About Organization
- Manager: reports to Japan Commercial Senior Finance Manager
- Subordinate(s): None, but strong/growth candidates will be given organizational oversight responsibility.
- Number of Peers: Approximately 8-10; Segment/Function Controllers in Japan who are in equivalent roles with differing business/functional counterparts, Asia Pacific (AP) Segment Controllers.
• Roles and responsibilities
Japan Commercial Controller (Finance Manager) will, through partnering with Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Services functions, as well as Japan and AP Finance teams:
- Lead providing insightful/actionable analysis to improve the profitability of our commercial business in a sustainable manner, drawing on a cumulative knowledge base from previous experiences to execute an appropriate course of action.
- Partners with business leaders in developing business and financial strategies / solution in order to maximize growth, improving the financial efficiency, and providing recommendations to complex business challenges.
- Work with function teams/leaders to ensure key decisions are made with strong data support, good risk/reward consideration, in a timely manner. In particular s/he will be a key player in providing financial governance / guidance to commercial activities including but not limited to pricing strategy, contract/deal reviews.
- Initiates and influences function teams to adopt new financial analytics and systems/processes.
• Key Interaction with:
- Japan Commercial leader, Commercial 4P and Ops, Segment/Functional leaders, Japan CFO/FP&A, AP CFO and AP HQ F&A team.
Experience & Skills - Must Have - essential
5+ years of experience in Finance FP&A, Controlling / Business Planning, or Strategy ideally in IT hardware / services, if not with an equivalent commercial environment.
Working experience in international environment, with global team(s), and/or in mixed cultures.
Change Agent. Provocative thinking, engagement / influencing skills, stakeholder management.
Open to learn, adopt to new challenges, maturity to work in both advanced and primitive environment.
Advanced/business level English and Japanese.
Positive and proactive problem-solving attitude. Ability to handle and wrestle through ambiguous tasks.
Ability to realign work priorities against conflicting demands.
Experience & Skills - Good to have - desirable
Experience in a large multinational (e.g. Fortune 500), matrix organization is a plus.
Experience in working with and/or transitioning work to offshore COE organizations.
MBA, CPA, and/or CFA desirable, but not required.
Broad systems and also specific application experience (SAP, Power BI, Qliksense), but also ability to take part in transforming legacy systems/processes.
Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) is a plus
