Description and Requirements

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic Hardware Development Project Manager to lead and manage the end-to-end lifecycle of hardware development projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing hardware teams' resources, material management, design and testing progress, and ensuring that project milestones are met. This role requires a proactive leader who can manage design changes, mitigate risks, and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution from concept to production.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project and Resource Management:

    • Oversee hardware teams' resources, Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) costs, and material management.
    • Manage the design and test phases, including Gerber file preparation and progress tracking, ensuring milestones are met in alignment with project schedules.
  2. Bill of Materials (BOM) and Material Tracking:

    • Handle ECAT Bill of Materials (BOM) management, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
    • Track material preparation status and coordinate with the factory to ensure adherence to the build schedule, quality standards, and timely delivery.
  3. Risk Management and Design Review:

    • Monitor the progress and deliverables of the hardware team, identifying potential risks during the hardware design phase.
    • Collaborate with the team to create action and backup plans for each review stage to mitigate hardware design risks.
  4. Hardware Design Change Management:

    • Oversee and manage hardware design changes, ensuring that all revisions are documented and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
    • Work closely with engineering teams to assess the impact of design changes on timelines, costs, and production schedules.
  5. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • Serve as a liaison between the hardware team, manufacturing partners, and other internal departments to ensure alignment of goals and timely project execution.
    • Coordinate with supply chain and quality teams to ensure all components and materials meet project requirements and quality standards.
  6. Project Reporting:

    • Provide regular updates on project status, risks, and milestones to senior management and stakeholders.
    • Maintain detailed project documentation, including progress reports, risk assessments, and mitigation plans.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in hardware development project management, preferably in the electronics or manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of hardware design processes, including schematic design, PCB layout, Gerber file creation, and testing methodologies.
  • Experience with BOM management, material preparation, and supply chain coordination.
  • Excellent project management skills with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Strong problem-solving and risk management abilities.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.
