Description

Leidos Defense Sector is seeking a talented Software Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary team within a matrixed organization to create unique solutions for complex problems, specifically regarding missile defense systems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Leidos provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

Primary Responsibilities

The Software Engineer will be responsible for helping develop and document a UI application to interface with hardware components via serial and ethernet communications. This includes writing software drivers to interface with hardware components, creating a UI that can display returned hardware data to the user, constructing unit tests, and documenting the software design throughout the development process.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Development and integration of software drivers with hardware components
  • Unit testing, verification, and documentation of development.
  • Graphical User Interface (GUI) development in Windows
  • Debugging network and serial communications between software and hardware components
  • Experience developing in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)

Basic Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university with 4+ years of experience or an MS degree with 2+ years.
  • Possesses a strong competency in C#
  • Experience developing Windows UI desktop applications using XAML/C#
  • Experience developing serial communication drivers (ex: RS232, RS485)
  • Experience using Wireshark and developing software that sends communications over a network (UDP/TCP)
  • Experience with software best practices such as peer reviews, automated testing, and document generation.
  • Experience working within an Agile environment (or equivalent)
  • Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area
  • Must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred candidates will also have experience and/or working knowledge with:

  • Networking topics such as Ethernet, TCP/IP, switching, routing, and network virtualization
  • Experience collaborating with other functional groups (systems engineering, test) to create a software product
  • Software engineering throughout the software lifecycle

Pay Range:

Pay Range $81,250.00 - $146,875.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
