Description

The National Security Sector at Leidos currently has an opening for a Site Reliability Engineer in support of our Multi-Domain Solutions Division. This is an exciting opportunity to bring your experience to support across all-domain large-scale weapon systems, Information Technology Systems, and Command and Control Systems to realize the Department of Defense Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control (CJADC2). In this role you will support the Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS) Digital Infrastructure Team in designing solutions that can be delivered at speed, scale, and with the necessary security to deliver operational advantages to the warfighter. ABMS is a top modernization priority for the Department of the Air Force and will be the backbone of a network-centric approach to battle management in partnership with all the services across CJADC2. This position will work closely with Program Managers, other domain engineers, and Government counterparts across Government and Industry partners.

This position will be worked from Langley AFB. It will support a flexible schedule.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Build systems to manage infrastructure, platforms, and applications to enable the continuous integration and continuous deployment of software products.
  • Apply best practices for infrastructure and platform provisioning, configuration, management, and automated software deployments using DevSecOps pipeline technologies.
  • Leverage open-source and fit-for-purpose tools to manage private, hybrid, and public cloud infrastructures and platforms via code, designing reusable infrastructure and platform components for scalable, highly-available, secure architectures for applications.
  • Evaluate and apply best practices to facilitate continuous improvement that can be applied across teams.
  • Leverage Atlassian tools like JIRA, Bitbucket, and Confluence to track development activities, control source code, and author documentation.
  • Communicate key project data to team members and build team cohesion and effectiveness.
  • Provide input/suggestions on technical approach to the Agile Team Leads.
  • Facilitate technical and programmatic information exchange in support of Consortium Objectives.
  • Participate in informal/formal technical interchanges and formal reviews.
  • Monitor and maintain system health.
  • Serve as a liaison between site operators and consortium DI team members
  • Automate repetitive tasks to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Build and maintain effective monitoring and alerting systems.
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure smooth deployment of new features.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve incidents to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct post-incident reviews and implement improvements.
  • Optimize system performance and scalability.
  • Additional responsibilities as needed by the program.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ yrs or master's with 6+ yrs in engineering, systems engineering, or related technical field with relevant experience performing SRE activities in a professional capacity. Experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • US citizenship and an active Secret security clearance, with ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
  • Proven experience as a Site Reliability Engineer or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Proficiency in scripting and coding (e.g., Python, Bash, Go).
  • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience documenting site reliability processes and procedures for future reference.
  • Ability to work in an on-call rotation.
  • Senior level technical consulting experience including experience interfacing with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem solving and analysis skills, including the ability to logically create structure and order from unstructured inputs.
  • Self-starter that can work independently while possessing the communication skills to work effectively with software development teams and customers.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on hardware and software development projects, especially Agile based development programs within the DoD or DAF.
  • Experience in the development of training for virtual training devices.
  • Experience with DAF Instructional Systems Development (ISD) processes.
  • Experience working in a highly distributed, collaborative team environment - Must be self-starter.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $101,400.00 - $183,300.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
