Description

The Leidos Corporate Home Office (CHO) Independent Research and Development (IRAD) team is looking for technical experts with the skills to lead various projects as the Principal Investigator (PI), both now and in 2025.

Here's a brief overview of what it looks like to be a CHO IRAD PI:

  • Provide clear vision and strategy to guide high-priority investments
  • Ability to speak to all parts of the IRAD as an integrated whole and dive deeply into at least one part
  • Ability to build Leidos customer-specific use cases and/or guide the team in creating relevant cases
  • Communicate progress, plans, and roadblocks with the IRAD Program Management Office
  • Identify and communicate effectively with relevant IRAD stakeholders across the enterprise
  • Meet IRAD communication and reporting objectives on time, including compliance and release planning
  • Be 100% accountable for managing $2-9M budgets
  • Serve as a full-time resource dedicated to IRAD as your first priority
  • Ability to lead through influence and manage complex matrix staff
  • Understanding of Leidos IRAD and PMO processes for managing a program
  • Knowledge and experience managing an EAC and budgets
  • Coach and mentor leads toward vision and ability to communicate IRAD objectives succinctly

The 2024 suite of CHO IRAD projects includes the following primary areas of research and development: 1) Cyber Operations Automation, 2) Mission Ecosystems Acceleration, 3) Resilient Systems, 4) SoftwareNEXT, 5) Trusted Mission AI, and 6) Zero Trust Mission Cloud. The 2025 projects could look a little different, but many of these core elements will remain.

PI positions are typically full-time gigs that run for an entire calendar year, but there are some mid-year opportunities to join the team based on other personnel movements that create gaps.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $122,200.00 - $220,900.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
