The Digital Modernization Sector has an opening for an Enterprise Monitoring and Observability Specialist.

General program information and/or position overview. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the MiSP mission. In this mission we manage IT Technical solutions for our CMS customer

Primary Responsibilities. Ability to analyze, design, and implement holistic performance and health monitoring for applications hosted in cloud and on-prem environments. Can use verbal and written skills to collaborate with application, infrastructure, and system maintainers to obtain the best possible system monitoring using a given monitoring tool set. Must use creativity and system knowledge to develop new and customer tailored systems that optimize user experience and operational efficiency. Ability to negotiate desired outcomes and solutions within a larger group whose goals and interests may not always precisely align, yet always with the Customer Satisfaction and Service Delivery as the primary objective. Able to envision, design, and develop solutions as requested from leadership and customers by utilizing appropriate decision making and initiative. Manage the production environment by developed monitoring solutions in a holistic view of system health. Collect and analyze metrics and log data from Operating systems and applications to improve performance through tuning and fault discover. Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and future capacity planning with a primary focus upon development of holist monitoring solutions in a Data Center Environment.

Basic Qualifications. Bachelors' Degree with 6 years of applicable experience or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree.

  • Expert level experience with Health and Functionality of both Cloud hosted applications and On-Prem applications
  • Strong Experience with Logging systems such as Splunk, ITSI, and other monitoring solutions
  • Experience developing holistic and complete monitoring solution, including Gap Analysis for Cloud Based and On-Prem hosted systems
  • AWS or Azure or other Cloud certifications
  • Understanding of DevOps, AGIL, and ITIL methodologies
  • Ability to work with Application Developers, Engineers, and System Operations Administrators to understand what system functions would impact user experience and development of proper monitoring of those functions, resulting in triggered alerts which are sent to the Operations Center for required action
  • System automation techniques to bring efficiency
  • Skills and Experience with the use of metrics (and development of) to determine if the application is running efficiently with no excessive consumption of resources, Realtime application and System Capacity and Transaction Saturation monitoring
  • SLA, SLO, SLI Experience
  • Error budgets and application logging to ensure SLO (Service Level Objectives)
  • Experience with Docker and other similar, Amazon ECS /EKS, Google Container Engine, Azure Container Service

Must be able to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance

Pay Range:

Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
