Description

The Information & Data Sciences Group (IDS) at Leidos currently has an opening for an Engineering intern to work in our Vista, CA office. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping in the Leidos Innovation Center develop cutting edge technologies in sensing technology systems.

Primary Responsibilities

  • You will work alongside and under the guidance of experienced scientists and will be part of a fast-paced multidisciplinary team at the forefront of innovation
  • Assist in the execution of experiments involving development of laser spectroscopic instrumentation for the interrogation of chemical aerosol clouds.
  • Document work and be able to communicate findings and reasoning with other team members
  • Assist in modeling, design, fabrication, assembly, and integration of micron-scale ASIC to custom interposers
  • Assist in the integration of custom interposer assembly into yarns

Basic Qualifications

  • Currently a graduate or advanced undergraduate student in an accredited degree program pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Applied Physics, or closely related disciplines
  • Strong instrument control and data collection programming skills (Labview, Matlab, Python)
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, willing to learn, and interested in working in a team environment
  • Great work ethic and an enthusiasm for problem-solving
  • Good presentation, writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work at least 24-40 hours per week as a member of a cross-functional team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with optics and optical instrumentation
  • Experience and willingness to operate in an instrument laboratory development environment
  • Experience with instrumentation such as lasers, oscilloscopes, and FTIR.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $46,800.00 - $84,600.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
