Job Skill Requirements:

Physical Demands: Speech clarity, utilization of fingers and hands, standing-remaining on one's feet in an upright position, sitting-remaining in the normal seated position, handling-seizing, holding, grasping. Additional job duty (as assigned): (Hazardous Chemical Waste Management) Proper identification of known hazardous material in the workplace. The knowledge of personal protection measures. The avoidance of accidents. The knowledge of hazardous waste characteristics, hazardous waste volume generation limits, accumulation limits, spill control measures, record keeping, proper handling and container management, labeling, container and storage inspection.
Working Conditions: Possible exposure to infection from disease-bearing specimens; regularly exposed to the risk of blood-borne diseases; must comply with applicable safety procedures.
Vision Requirements: Far acuity-ability to see clearly at 20 feet or more; near acuity-ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less; depth perception-ability to judge distance and space relationships; color vision-ability to distinguish and identify different colors.
License/Certification/Education: Normally requires an associate's degree w/3-5 years of experience in related field. Normally requires a Valid Driver's License along with a clean driving record
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associates degree or higher is a plus
- 3 years of relevant experience; preferably in a clinical laboratory
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience is preferred
- Familiarity with laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures is preferred
- Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal
- High level of attention to detail with strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to make decisions in a fast paced environment
- Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Supervise the day to day operations of the Accessioning Department operations on third shift.
- Assist with preparation of laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
- Directly supervise, train, and mentor non-technical personnel of the department
- Overseeing 20 plus employees
- Monitor daily workflow in the branch and schedule adequate coverage
- Responsible for ensuring all shifts in the department are properly staffed
- Research and resolve any production errors while escalating when necessary
- Engage in continuous process and service level improvements
- Perform quality assurance checks to ensure efficiency and accuracy
- Prepare and maintain Quality Assurance records and documents
- Meet regularly with 20 direct reports to provide coaching and feedback for their development
- Responsible for administering and managing policies and procedures
- Process and maintain payroll and personnel files
- Perform administrative duties as needed
