Job Summary:
An experienced IT leader that oversees the delivery of information technology services across multiple laboratories in our Asia Pacific region.This role requires a service and delivery-minded individual with a strong background in laboratory operations and IT support of: software applications, instruments and supporting technologies.
This leader will collaborate with senior lab leaders in the Asia Pacific region to advocate, coordinate and deliver IT services.
Leadership & Management
- Oversee IT service operations across multiple laboratories, ensuring alignment with organizational goal
- Collaborate with laboratory management to identify IT needs and develop and support strategic solutions
- Serves as primary IT escalation point for senior laboratory leaders in Asia Pacific
- Closely monitors IT projects of many kinds that impact Asia Pacific labs to ensure their successful outcome and that the needs and considerations of Asia Pac are taken into consideration
- Escalates issues within the IT organization as needed to ensure issues get resolved in a timely manner

System Development & Integration
- Ensure the implementation and maintenance of laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and other analytical software
- Ensure seamless integration of IT systems with laboratory instruments and equipment
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance laboratory processes and data management
Instrument Onboarding and commissioning
- Ensure that required instrumentation is prioritized and implemented on schedule at labs across Asia Pac
- Ensure the validation and installation of instruments across Asia PAC labs
Collaboration & Communication
- Foster strong relationships with laboratory leaders, vendors, and other stakeholders
- Communicate IT strategies and initiatives effectively to all levels of the organization
- Facilitate training sessions and workshops to ensure laboratory staff are proficient in IT tools and systems
- Partners closely with BRM organization
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure that IT systems comply with regulatory standards and industry best practices
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with laboratory IT systems and data management
People Responsibilities:
- Actively represent IT Technology Enablement as part of leadership team, across Asia Pac with particular focus on Lab and Business Technology.
- Actively involved with supporting company expectations, and for achievement of strategic and operational objectives and metrics for Lab Instrument deployments.
- Actively involved in support of strategic and tactical planning relative to Delivery of IT services.
- In partnership with IT, supports process optimization plans to address current Asia Pac system issues to support business needs.
- Supports the implementation plans for install and integration of various Lab Instruments and various Business Systems to ensure maximization of investments.
- Ensure support is provided across departments in delivery of company and IT targets.
- Facilitates prioritization process for cross-site IT/Technology applications.
- Provides integration of automation processes within DD Labs across APAC. Ensures tracking and management of all IT/automation programs on behalf of DD Labs.
- Provides presentations and regular, frequent updates to APAC senior leadership as well as problem resolution.
- Maintains and complies with established budget, including budgetary tracking and management, in collaboration with IT, for all IT investments including lab instrument investments.
- Additional responsibilities related to Client Opportunity Management, Strategic Acquisitions.
Minimum Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelors of Science in Information technology, computer science, software engineering, or a science or technology field
- 10 or more years of experience working in a science or technical field
- 5 years of experience working in or around a medical laboratory
- 5 years of experience working in or with IT in a technical capacity
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preferred but not required are laboratory accreditations such as Medical Technologist, Cytologist, etc.
Skills and Competencies:
- Must be skilled at negotiations with leaders that are senior and with coordinating and organizing the work of others
- Skilled at conflict resolution
Working Conditions:
- Limited physical requirements as job is primarily at a desk in front of a computer. Position is located in Shanghai.
- Ability and willingness to legally travel to laboratory locations including those in China, Japan and Singapore
- Ability and willingness to attend international meetings at hours outside of normal shift hours
