Position Summary:

The Principal Scientist, Strategic Scientific Projects is responsible for identifying new associations, disease progression markers, new scientific and medical understanding from our data and results from concept through execution in a way that is consistent with Labcorp's mission, values, and strategy especially as it is related to Personalized Medicine and Care.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Medical background
  • Industry experience in clinical research
  • Exceptionally strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Applied Scientific background

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Help to Define target areas for analysis
  • Working across key business units to understand potential opportunities because of gaps in understanding
  • Collaborating cross-functionally within areas to understand what is needed for patient care or tools for Pharma - early detection markers, additional data for payor coverage
  • Identifying patient groups and test results to review
  • Looking at data - studying relationships, potential connections and outcomes to patient management
  • Design and partner to execute on any additional clinical studies as needed
  • Communicating status and successes with senior and executive leadership, payor solutions team, other scientific and medical stakeholders
  • Developing and implementing regular communication format and cadence to ensure awareness of status and successes
  • Presenting status to senior and executive leaders across, payor solutions team, Biopharma, Scientific and Medical colleagues,
  • Present to BATs (business advisory teams, regularly)- projects are tracked
  • Make sure data is presentation ready, publication ready

Education

  • MD/ PhD preferred OR
  • MBA with comparable experience required
