Labcorp is seeking a Cytogenetics Technologist Trainee to join its team in Seattle, WA! This position will be working for our Women's Health and Genetics division. Assays performed in the Cytogenetics Department utilize a variety of scientific techniques, including specimen culturing, slide preparation, and chromosome analysis. The schedule for this position will be: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm with rotating weekends. Some overtime may be required.

Responsibilities:
- Perform culture initiation, harvesting of cells, staining slides from various tissue types
- Perform analysis of chromosomes, which includes imaging and karyotyping of cytogenetic specimens
- Summarize test results utilizing ISCN nomenclature
- Perform FISH and aneuploidy testing
- Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
- Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
- Review test requisitions to gather pertinent details for analysis
- Distinguish between normal and abnormal test results
- Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
- Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
- Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
- Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
- Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
- Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
- Assist with processing of specimens when needed
- Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Requirements:
- B.A./B.S. in Biology, Chemistry, Cytogenetics Technology or relatable life science
- Previous relevant laboratory experience preferred
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems are a plus
- High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
- Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
Pay Range: $27.36 - 32.00/hour
All job offers will be based on a candidate's skills and prior relevant experience and the terms of the collective bargaining agreement between Dynacare Northwest, Inc. and United Food and Commercial Workers Union, Local 21.
Benefits: Regular, full-time or part-time employees working 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), accrue up to 18 days of Annual Leave per year (includes 8 holidays) and Sick Leave (0.0333) hours of sick leave for each hour of work) capped at 64 hours per year, Tuition Reimbursement and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
