You'll be a troubleshooter extraordinaire, diagnosing and repairing complex equipment, software, and systems with ease. Nothing will be too challenging for you to solve as you respond to escalated issues, report critical design flaws, reliability and maintenance problems, and bugs.

We are looking for someone with experience in Web Application Server (Tomcat / Apache / WebSphere / WebLogic) and testing expertise. You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of WebSphere Application Server environments. Your role involves ensuring the availability, performance, and security of applications running on the WebSphere platform.

The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background in WAS administration, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to collaborate with development and infrastructure teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • WAS Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain WebSphere Application Server in various environments. Set up and manage application server profiles, clusters, and nodes.
  • Application Deployment: Manage the deployment of applications on WebSphere, ensuring seamless and efficient processes. Collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot deployment-related issues.
  • Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor the performance of WebSphere environments and proactively optimize configurations. Conduct performance tuning and capacity planning to meet application requirements.
  • Security Management: Implement and enforce security measures for WebSphere Application Server environments. Collaborate with security teams to address vulnerabilities and apply patches.
  • Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Diagnose and resolve issues related to WebSphere configurations, applications, and server performance. Work closely with development and infrastructure teams to address complex problems.
  • Backup and Recovery: Implement backup and recovery procedures for WebSphere environments. Test and validate backup and recovery processes regularly.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with development, testing, and infrastructure teams to support the application lifecycle. Communicate effectively with stakeholders on system status and issue resolution.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of WebSphere configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps. Create and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for routine tasks.
  • Version Upgrades and Patch Management: Coordinate and execute version upgrades of WebSphere Application Server. Apply patches and updates in accordance with the release schedule.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • WebSphere Application Server (WAS): In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience [5 to 7 years] with WebSphere Application Server versions 8.5 and 9.0.
  • Installation and Configuration: Proven expertise in installing, configuring, and maintaining WebSphere Application Server in various environments.
  • Application Deployment: Experience in managing the deployment of applications on WebSphere, including troubleshooting deployment-related issues.
  • Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Skills in monitoring and optimizing the performance of WebSphere environments, including performance tuning and capacity planning.
  • Security Management: Ability to implement and enforce security measures for WebSphere Application Server environments, including addressing vulnerabilities and applying patches.
  • Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve issues related to WebSphere configurations, applications, and server performance.
  • Backup and Recovery: Experience in implementing and validating backup and recovery procedures for WebSphere environments.
  • Version Upgrades and Patch Management: Expertise in coordinating and executing version upgrades and applying patches for WebSphere Application Server.
  • Teamwork: Proven ability to work closely with cross-functional teams to support the application lifecycle and address complex problems.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving abilities to provide innovative solutions to complex issues.
  • Project Management: Experience in managing projects or leading teams in a technical environment is a plus.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

  • Advanced Certifications: Certifications in WebSphere Application Server or related technologies.
  • Experience with Other Application Servers: Hands-on experience with other application servers like Tomcat, Apache, or WebLogic.
  • Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell) for automation of administrative tasks.
  • Cloud Platforms: Experience with deploying and managing WebSphere on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Database Management: Knowledge of database management systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server) and their integration with WebSphere.
  • Project Management: Experience in managing projects or leading teams in a technical environment.
