The Role

In Systems Management at Kyndryl, you will be critical in ensuring the smooth operation of our customers' IT infrastructure. You'll be the mastermind behind maintaining and optimizing their systems, ensuring they're always running at peak performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage persistent storage, networking, and OpenShift Service Mesh.
  • Automate deployments using Helm charts, Ansible, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Monitor and optimize OpenShift cluster performance, scaling, and resource allocation.
  • Enforce best practices for WebSphere and OpenShift security hardening.
  • Perform vulnerability assessments, patch management, and compliance audits for middleware technologies
  • Integrate middleware logging and monitoring with Splunk, ELK, and Grafana dashboards.
  • Diagnose and resolve middleware performance issues, application failures, and system crashes.
  • Troubleshoot OpenShift cluster issues, pod failures, and networking problems.
  • Analyze logs from WebSphere, IHS, and MQ to identify root causes and implement fixes.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 6+ Years Experience zLinux Middleware Administrator.
  • Install, configure, and manage OpenShift, WebSphere Application Server (WAS), IBM HTTP Server (IHS), and IBM MQ on IBM Z/Linux.
  • Deploy and manage containerized applications using Kubernetes and OpenShift operators.
  • Configure and maintain high availability (HA), clustering, and load balancing for all middleware components.
  • Tune JVM settings, heap size, garbage collection, and thread pools for WebSphere applications.
  • Optimize IBM MQ message flow, queue depth, and performance.
  • Configure caching, compression, and load balancing in IHS for improved web performance.
  • Use Splunk, ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, or IBM Tivoli Monitoring (ITM) for real-time system and application monitoring.
  • Implement SSL/TLS encryption, LDAP authentication, OAuth, and RBAC policies across middleware components.
  • Secure IBM MQ with SSL encryption, authentication, and message signing.
  • Set up WebSphere Network Deployment (ND) clusters for high availability.
  • Configure multi-instance queue managers and failover strategies for IBM MQ.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

  • Implement OpenShift scaling policies for auto-scaling and redundancy.
  • Ensure backup and recovery strategies using IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM).
  • Develop Ansible playbooks, Python scripts, and shell scripts to automate administration tasks.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for WebSphere, OpenShift, and IBM MQ.
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support for production environments (if required).
  • Work closely with application developers, DevOps teams, network engineers, and security teams.
