The Role
As a Trade Operations Lead for Asia Pacific region at Kyndryl you will have expertise primarily in indian trade laws and export authorizations as well as other countries in the region. You will be responsible for ensuring Kyndryl is compliant with all Indian and APAC trade laws and regulations, guaranteeing ethically and legally sound business operations.

Critical to your role, you will keep abreast of changes in India and APAC trade laws and regulations and communicate any changes that may impact business operations to relevant teams.
You will obtain necessary export licenses and authorizations in compliance with local and international laws for dual-use items, military/defense exports, and encrypted IT equipment, and cooperate with internal stakeholder to facilitate smooth import/export processes.
Specific activities & responsibilities will also include the following:
- Manage and maintain compliance with all Indian and APAC trade laws and regulations, ensuring that business operations are legally and ethically conducted.
- Obtain necessary export licenses and authorizations in accordance with local and international laws for dual-use items, military/defense exports, and encrypted IT equipment.
- Provide expert guidance on international trade and export control matters to various internal teams, ensuring an understanding of and adherence to trade compliance.
- Oversee compliance with India Special Valuation Branch (SVB) processes.
- Determine Export Classification Control Number(ECCN), local equivalent classification control number, and Export License requirements and submit License requests.
- Manage the SCOMET License process for India from DGFT.
- Manage the re-export of refurbished assets process completely.
- Manage Closure of the License of end-of-life products for India
- Ensure compliance with SIRIM permit requirements for Malaysia and Import license for the Philippines.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of import/export processes and customs clearance-related matters.
- Identify and mitigate any potential risks or violations of trade regulations.
- Stay current with changes in Indian and APAC and international trade laws and regulations and inform relevant teams of any changes that may impact business operations.
- Develop and implement strategies for trade efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Responsible for completing regulatory review to identify new product import requirements for importers of record.
- Provide training and support to staff on all matters related to trade compliance and operations, including environmental regulations and hazardous materials handling.

Required Skill and Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years' experience in trade operations, international business, or a related field.
- Bachelor's or Master's in political science, Law, Economics, or any related field.
- Certification in trade compliance, such as Certified International Trade Professional (CITP), or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a multinational corporation, preferably with a focus on India and APAC region.
- Profound knowledge of Indian and APAC trade laws and regulations.
- Experience with securing export licenses and authorizations, specifically for encrypted IT equipment, dual-use items, and military/defense exports.
- Familiarity with the Wassenaar Arrangement on Export Controls for Conventional Arms and Dual-Use Goods and Technologies.
- Staying up to date on new legislation and maintaining legal compliance while conducting export/import activities
- Experience with securing export licenses and authorizations.
- Experience with hazardous material shipping, environmental regulations, and handling of IT equipment.
- High degree of attention to detail and a great understanding of the broader implications of local and global trade regulations
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
Preferred Skill and Experience:
- Master's degree in political science, law, economics or related field
- Certification in trade compliance CITP or equivalent
