Kairos Power is a new nuclear energy technology and engineering company whose mission is to enable the world’s transition to clean energy, with the ultimate goal to dramatically improve people’s quality of life while protecting the environment. This goal will be accomplished through the commercialization of the fluoride-salt-cooled, high-temperature reactor (FHR) that can be deployed with robust safety, affordable costs, and flexible operation to accommodate the expansion of variable renewables.
Job Summary
As a Communications Intern, you will work on the Marketing Communications team to help document the company’s progress and connect stakeholders with Kairos Power’s mission. We are looking for a creative, proactive, and enthusiastic intern with a knack for visual storytelling and proficiency in digital media. This is an excellent opportunity for a savvy undergraduate or graduate student with a solution-oriented mindset and a passion for communications.

Responsibilities
- Document company events and achievements through multimedia storytelling
- Research and write content for Kairos Power’s digital communication channels
- Capture high-quality photos and video of events, lab work, manufacturing activities, construction, and operations
- Capture interviews with Kairos Power leaders and key contributors
- Edit short videos for social media and other applications using original and archive footage
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Science Communication, Journalism, English, Photography, Digital Media, or related field of study
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Good storyteller both written and visual
- Understanding of scientific communication
- Strong photography and videography skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and/or other photo and video editing software
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and adapt quickly to change while maintaining a positive attitude
- Works well with others with the ability to build trust within the team and work effectively in a highly collaborative environment
- Skilled at planning, organizing, prioritizing, and executing simultaneous projects and activities
Physical Conditions
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps, and the like
- Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
- Communicating with others to exchange information
Environmental Conditions
- General office environment
- Outdoor environment or elements such as precipitation and wind
- Noisy, industrial environments
- Odors or fumes from chemicals or chemical reactions
Safety and PPE
- Reading and interpreting hazardous warning signs
- Reporting issues with equipment or unsafe conditions
- Wearing proper PPE, to include face mask, face shields, gloves, safety shoes
The hourly rate for this position is $26 for employees working onsite at our Alameda, CA headquarters. The range provided in this job posting represents the typical range or starting rate of candidates hired in California. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, the market data for your work location, and a comparison to other employees already in the role.
