We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for you to take your software engineering career to the next level.

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate and Investment Bank team, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.

As part of the Athena Rates Technology team you will dive head-first into creating innovative solutions that advance businesses and careers. You'll join an inspiring and curious team of technologists dedicated to improving the design, analytics, development, coding, testing and application programming that goes into creating high quality software and new products. You'll be tasked with keeping the team and other key stakeholders up to speed on the progress of what's being developed. Coming in with an understanding of the importance of end-to-end software development-such as Agile frameworks-is key. And best of all, you'll be working with and sharing ideas, information and innovation with our global team of technologists from all over the world.

You will work directly with stake holders to understand business cases and problems and be responsible for the full pipeline of software delivery. You will build up relationships with internal clients and take full ownership for software delivery. You should be a self-sufficient developer comfortable tackling new and complex problem sets.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Creates secure and high-quality production code, able to build out of tooling providing other developers more visibility on the applications
  • Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
  • Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
  • Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
  • Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Strong Object Oriented Design and Development knowledge
  • Proficient in Python (or other Object Oriented Language) experience with proven track record of high quality successful delivery.
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
  • Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  • Advanced knowledge of application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines
  • Ability to collaborate with high-performing teams and individuals throughout the firm to accomplish common goals
  • Understanding of software skills such as business analysis, development, maintenance and software improvement
  • Interpersonal skills for effective working in a globally distributed team
  • Automated unit testing
  • Great object oriented developers needed to build global risk & transaction management system for fixed income securities on a Python with NoSql platform using a fully automatic test and deployment tool-chain in an efficient Continuous Delivery process. Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Knowledge of the products traded in capital markets, business processes and applications underpinning them
