As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the SPS/MMC/SMR IBMi team, you apply deep knowledge of software, applications, and technical processes within the infrastructure engineering discipline. Continue to evolve your technical and cross-functional knowledge outside of your aligned domain of expertise.

Job responsibilities

  • Applies technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to projects of moderate scope
  • Drives a workstream or project consisting of one or more infrastructure engineering technologies
  • Works with other platforms to architect and implement changes required to resolve issues and modernize the organization and its technology processes
  • Executes creative solutions for the design, development, and technical troubleshooting for problems of moderate complexity
  • Strongly considers upstream/downstream data and systems or technical implications and advises on mitigation actions
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on infrastructure engineering concepts and proficient advanced experience
  • Deep knowledge of one or more areas of infrastructure engineering such as hardware, networking terminology, databases, storage engineering, deployment practices, integration, automation, scaling, resilience, or performance assessments.
  • Extensive knowledge in administering, configuring, building, troubleshooting & upgrading IBM i OS and component applications.
  • Advanced knowledge in administering IBM Power Systems and Hardware Management Console (HMC).
  • Ability to work with external Vendors such as IBM to troubleshoot problems and manage system events, failures and other application software, hardware, or IBM i component failures.
  • Has extensive knowledge of Power HA and the Copy Services Toolkit for IBM i.
  • Expertise in IBM i software replication tools, such as Rocket's iCluster product.
  • Ability to work in large, collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently with strong ownership, collaboration & communication skills.
  • Detailed knowledge of IBM i Security and Audit with ability to manage authorization of objects, authorization lists, groups and profiles.
  • Must be available and able to actively participate in team on-call and call out support, which may span overnight hours and weekends, based on support requirements, network, database, and application components.
  • Working proficiency in Incident/Problem/Change management process and procedures.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Understanding of software skills such as business analysis, development, maintenance, and software improvement will be an added advantage
  • Experience with continuous integration/development toolkits like GIT/Bit-bucket/Jenkins
  • Exposure/competence with Agile Development practices, using Jira a plus.
  • Advanced and practical knowledge of IBM i Performance monitoring, tuning, workload capping and resource allocation via HMC is optimal
