As an Infrastructure Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within the Infrastructure Platforms team, you develop knowledge of software, applications, and technical processes within the infrastructure engineering discipline. Through this work you begin to apply your proficiency in a single application or technical methodology..
Job responsibilities
- Applies technical knowledge to assignments with a defined scope such as testing the performance of the infrastructure and understanding and verifying that requirements were successfully met
- Drives results, collects and analyzes monitoring data in test and production, and sees assignments through to completion
- Carries out day to day work assignments with some guidance and within documented parameters
- Escalates issues to appropriate leaders
- Develops considerations for upstream/downstream data and systems or technical implications
- Produce operational and development expertise in building proactive monitoring systems, contributing to automatic healing and recovery during system failures.
- Collect, analyze, synthesize and develop visualizations and report on application/system health, uptime, performance improvements, change/capacity management of supported services.
- Foster strong relationship & engage with the development team throughout the life cycle to help build for reliability, Identify and/or analyze patterns of incidents/problem, conduct flawless post-mortems, develop permanent remediation plans, implement automation to prevent future incidents from re-occurring.
- Proactively identify hidden problems and patterns and facilitate maximum speed of delivery by objectively binding to disruptions of the service.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on infrastructure disciplines concepts and 2+ years applied experience
- Proficient knowledge of hardware, networking terminology, databases, storage engineering, deployment practices, integration, automation, scaling, resilience, and performance assessments
- General knowledge of one specific infrastructure technology and moderate proficiency in relevant scripting languages (e.g., Scripting, Python, etc.)
- Experience with cloud technologies with the ability to operate in and migrate across public and private clouds
- Basic technical knowledge of additional technical domains
- Proficient in platform skills (Linux, UNIX and Windows) and application/middleware support knowledge.
- Extensive experience with Automation and Configuration tools like Ansible/Puppet/Chef
- Proficient in scripting & programming languages like Python/Java.
- Experience in handling critical application outages in an large scale operations & driving root cause analysis and remediation
- Experience with instrumentation, monitoring, alerting and responding - relative to performance and availability of application, using tools such as AppDynamics/Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana etc.
- Hands on experience with Jenkins, GIT and CI/CD pipelines, Agile and Scrum practices.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Understanding of concepts and principles behind DevOps and SRE.
- Knowledge of Cloud Engineering & understanding of private cloud principles and exposure to public cloud offerings such as AWS/Azure/Google cloud or similar technology is preferred.
