Head of ECM Syndicate - Vice President/ Executive Director - Australia

As a VP/ED in the APAC equity syndicate business, you will collaborate with the regional syndicate and Australian ECM team to execute IPOs, follow-ons, blocks, and convertible new issuances. Successful candidates will be passionate about markets, knowledgeable in equity capital markets, and enjoy working closely with clients, salespeople, traders, and equity capital markets professionals.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of equity transactions, including IPOs and follow-on offerings.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing strategic advice.
  • Coordinate with syndicate members to structure and price offerings.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Collaborate with banking, research, sales, and trading teams to deliver comprehensive solutions.
  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Provide expert insights on market trends to clients and internal teams.
  • Drive revenue generation while building a strong client franchise.
  • Uphold the firm's risk management policies.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 6+ years of industry experience, including syndicate, syndicate operations, sales and trading, or equity capital markets.
  • Expertise in Bloomberg and MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to thrive under competitive pressures and remain client-focused.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
  • Comfortable interacting with business clients and management.
  • Self-directed, highly motivated, and able to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Advanced degree or professional certification in finance or a related field.
  • Experience in the APAC market with a strong understanding of regional dynamics.
  • Proven track record of successful transaction execution.
  • Extensive coverage of domestic and international investors
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to anticipate and explain complex market movements.
  • Experience in mentoring and developing high-performing teams.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements in the Australian equity market.
