Our Head of Advancing Black Pathways (ABP) will lead and oversee the strategic development and implementation of programs and initiatives aimed at advancing the professional, educational, and economic opportunities. In this role, you will be a visionary leader with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by the Black community and a passion for driving systemic change.

As the Head of Advancing Black Pathways, you will report to the Global Head of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), and will work with cross-functional partners, leaders, and employees to continue building upon and advancing a global ABP strategy and integration into the business. You will have the opportunity to develop strategies, collaborate with senior leaders and advocate for the Black community. Additionally, this role offers high visibility in the communities that we serve and the chance to work closely with a wide variety of stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Advancing Black Pathways initiative, aligning with the company's overall diversity, equity, and inclusion goals - this includes developing and implementing a firm-wide vision, strategy, key objectives/priorities, methodology, process and governance framework for all aspects of Advancing Black Pathways.
  • Leverage external market knowledge and understand the current environment within Diversity/HR and diverse employee needs in order to determine solutions/plans.
  • Design, implement and develop programs that support creating equal opportunities for Black individuals within the company and the broader community.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure program effectiveness and sustainability.
  • Maintain a strong controls environment by implementing and adhering to risk/control expectations, regulatory requirements and standards, procedures, and processes in partnership with Controls and DEI Operations team.
  • Partner with, educate, and influence executive leadership, providing strategic storytelling and stakeholder management, across significant components of the ABP strategy.
  • Build strong employee partnerships and act as a leader for the Black community and allies internally through Business Resource Groups and other forum
  • Advocate for policies and practices that promote opportunity and inclusion for Black individuals within the company and the community.
  • Increase awareness of the Advancing Black Pathways initiative through public speaking, media engagement, and thought leadership.
  • Establish measurements to evaluate the success and impact of programs and initiatives.
  • Lead and mentor a team of professionals dedicated to advancing Black pathways; expected to lead the respective team in a positive and constructive manner, encouraging and motivating others, and providing guidance where necessary.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 15+ years' experience in a senior leadership role, managing associated risks, policies, and budgets in diversity and inclusion, community development or corporate responsibility
  • Strategic thinker, thought leader, with a demonstrated ability to make sound decisions and creatively develop solutions on multiple concurrent priorities.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the Black community.
  • Proven ability to promote a strong controls environment by adhering to risk/control expectations, procedures, and processes.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of the financial services industry.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strategic partnerships in a complex, global organization.
  • Passion for driving systemic change and promoting equity and inclusion; ambassador of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and a thought leader in the space, as well as a personal commitment to making progress on DEI internally and externally.

  • Advanced degree preferred
