As the Environmental, Social and Governance landscape evolves and becomes increasingly important to the firm, our corporate business activities and external stakeholders (clients, shareholders, regulators), the firm has established a Firm-wide ESG Reporting & Controller Team to manage end to end controls, consistency, and accountability for Environment, Social and Governance internal and external reporting processes across the firm.

As the ESG Reporting and Controller Associate you will be a highly motivated individual and team player. You will gain a broad understanding across the ESG landscape and become a valued partner to the various corporate functions, while building your partnerships within the team.

As an ESG Data Governance Associate you will support JPMorgan Chase's environmental sustainability strategy in helping our clients navigate the challenges and realize the economic opportunities associated with the transition to a low-carbon economy. As a global financial institution, we have an important role to play and are committed to addressing energy and climate challenges, and providing financing and strategic advice and other services to clients.

Job Responsibilities:
  • As a Data Governance Associate, you will partner with technology in the delivering strategic ESG Products (Everest, Impact) used for both, internal and external reporting purposes.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with ESG Controllers, Business Process Owners, Data Providers, Data Owners, Data Quality Managers, Control Managers and key data-related roles across Business and Technology to facilitate effective communication.
  • Escalates project issues and risks appropriately
  • Identify and manage issues in Data Quality book of work by working alongside with application owners, external vendors, and coordinate remediation activities.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, business partners, and control partners to document impacts of data quality
  • Reviews root cause analysis and recommends solutions for Data Quality issues impacting ESG Controllers.
  • Support the Data Management agenda in partnership with Center of Carbon Transition (CCT), ESG Data Central (ESG-DC), Reference data team (RDR/RDI), Project Managers, Chief Data Office and Data Architect. Research and document data ownership and data lineage. Understand the business context on respective data elements and source systems.
  • Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience in one of the following areas: Data Governance, Project management, Finance, Risk Controller, Internal/External Reporting, Business analysis
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to execute on projects with minimal oversight.
  • Proficiency in analyzing large data sets in Excel.
  • Familiar with PowerPoint basics and storytelling.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to develop effective credible relationships with business and technology partners
  • Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Knowledge on business intelligence tools such as Alteryx, Tableau, Data architecture framework, AWS, Oracle etc. is preferred.
  • Experience working in Reporting related applications/tools; Conceptual understanding of relational databases, data modeling, and SQL would be an added advantage
