A Sr. Lifecycle / Operations Product Engineer will organize and lead design projects, complex technical tasks, and engineering process/product improvements to support operations at Abiomed. Lifecycle/Ops Product Engineers focus on engineering tasks, actively support and sustain production at Abiomed by working cross functionally with several teams (Production Engineering, Development Engineering, Post Market Engineering, Quality Engineering, Production Management, and the Supply Chain team) to strengthen our ability to deliver high quality life-saving devices. They will be experts in the fields of root cause analysis, testing, design controls, and project management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and validate test methods to conduct characterization and engineering testing.
- Perform mechanical, fluid, vibration, thermal, reliability, and systems analyses in support of root cause analysis of current designs and proposed design improvements
- Collaborate with Production Teams to conduct engineering builds in our production environment to support design and process qualification.
- Support and lead design for manufacturing projects and manufacturing automation projects.
- Assist fabrication of production equipment prototypes in collaboration with a technical support team (Machine Shop, Technicians and Designers) and our suppliers.
- Lead design reviews and present to peers, review teams, and company leadership
- Organize and communicate project plans effectively.
- Lead project team meetings and provide technical direction.
- Identify and establish new approaches and procedures to new operational challenges.
Qualifications
- BS in Engineering or directly related scientific subject area, MS Preferred
- 5+ years of work experience in engineering, medical device experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate ideas and information clearly and effectively (oral and written)
- Ability to exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
- Ability to prioritize & complete tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of applicable manufacturing processes such as injection molding, extrusion, and adhesives.
- Familiarity with analytical software (Ansys, MathCad, Minitab & Matlab)
- Working knowledge of SAP.
- Experienced with Engineering CAD software. SolidWorks and EPDM preferred.

- May require up to 10% travel - US & EU
