GE Aerospace is building a team focused on performance and availability of our Enterprise Teamcenter PLM system that is utilized across Engineering, Supply Chain, and Services processes & business segments. The Sr Teamcenter PLM Platform Engineer is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and high availability of the Teamcenter PLM system across Cloud & on-prem solutions, centrally managed servers & globally federated infrastructures, and a deep tech stack of enterprise capabilities & integrations. Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Work in a DevSecOps team & culture, focused on continuous improvement and operational excellence across Teamcenter Application & Infrastructure enterprise components
- Continuously monitor the performance of the Teamcenter environment using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in the application, database, storage, and network layers.
- Implement performance tuning measures, including database indexing, query optimization, and application server configuration.
- Ensure high availability of the Teamcenter system through redundancy, failover mechanisms, and clustering.
- Develop and implement disaster recovery plans and conduct regular testing to ensure data integrity and system availability.
- Manage backup and recovery processes to protect against data loss and ensure quick restoration in case of failures.
- Optimize server hardware and network infrastructure to support the Teamcenter environment.
- Implement load balancing solutions to distribute workloads evenly across servers.
- Use content delivery networks (CDNs) and local caching to improve access times for globally distributed users.
- Design and manage a globally federated Teamcenter infrastructure to ensure data consistency and availability across different regions.
- Implement replication and synchronization mechanisms to keep data up to date across multiple locations.
- Optimize network routes and use WAN optimization technologies to reduce latency for remote users.
- Plan and implement scalable solutions to accommodate growing user bases and data volumes.
- Conduct capacity planning to ensure the infrastructure can handle future demands.
- Provide support to users experiencing performance issues or system outages.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address user needs and improve system performance.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of the Teamcenter infrastructure, configurations, and procedures.
- Generate regular reports on system performance, availability, capacity, and improvement plans.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 8 years of Product Lifecycle Managment experience OR an Associate's degree with a minimum of 11 years Product Lifecycle Managment experience OR High School Diploma with a minimum of 13 years Product Lifecycle Managment experience
Desired Qualifications
- Enterprise Teamcenter systems utilized across Engineering, Supply Chain, and Services processes & business segments.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to address technical challenges and improve system performance.
- Teamcenter Administration and Teamcenter Deployment, including Deployment Center
- AWS Cloud architecture and automation using Cloud Formation Templates
- Experience scripting or developing software and services for the cloud C/C++, Python, Java, Groovy, Ant, PowerShell, Bash Shell, etc.
- Obsessive about uptime, availability and reliability while being proactive about everything
- Strong understanding of cloud computing, including security, usage scenarios, and infrastructure basics
- Knowledge of common operating systems (Unix/Linux, Windows)
- Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, SNMP, FTP, syslog, TFTP, etc.)
- Experience managing version control systems such as Git
- Experience deploying and managing infrastructure on public clouds such as AWS or Azure
- Experience using an automated configuration management system (Terraform, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Salt, etc.)
- Knowledge of Network Management (SNMP, MIB)
- Experience with configuring, customizing, and extending monitoring tools (Datadog, Sensu, Grafana, Splunk)
- Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP networking, and inter-networking technologies (routing/switching, proxy, firewall, load balancing etc.)
- Enthusiastic to find ways to make customers successful
