The SOT Operator sets up production equipment to produce subassemblies or finished products. Ensures production equipment is properly set up. Checks products on assembly line to confirm that they are properly assembled and remove defective products. Compiles records and reports on quality inspection results. Cleans, maintains and performs basic repairs on equipment as needed. Schedules maintenance and/or repairs on equipment as directed. Prepares accurate records/documentation related to quality, work in progress, test results, and special projects. Troubleshoots production problems. Reports and documents unresolved production problems.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Under limited supervision and all applicable federal, state, and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:

  • Does any other work of a related nature and performs other work related duties as assigned.
  • Follow current compliance regulations and standards.
  • Works in accordance with ISO 14001 principles and environmental regulatory compliance requirements. Works in accordance with Ethicon environmental policies and procedures.
  • Must have good work habits (neatness, organizational skills, time management skills, etc.).
  • Must be willing to work with a team concept.
  • Must be willing to accept change and additional responsibilities and training associated with change.
  • Demonstrate a mechanical/technical aptitude
  • Make adjustments, based on information generated by the Vision system, to machine through computer terminal
  • Ensure safe working conditions and practices in the department
  • Proven ability to independently recognize and solve problems
  • Assist in Operator Deep Cleaning General Activities for CME and SOT on Daily, Weekly and Monthly basis.
  • Associates are held accountable for production efficiencies, strict compliance with process specifications, and Company standards of behavior.
  • Responsible for processing VICRYLâ and VICRYL PLUSâ and possibly other products through the auto swaging and winding department.
  • Focusing on ensuring maximum OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) combing the factors of Performance, Quality and Availability, efficiency from machine production, ensuring maximum machine utilization and ensuring minimum departmental non-productive time.
  • Daily, weekly, and/or monthly reporting of all department operations thru the DTT report.
  • Comply with all environmental, safety and occupational health policies. (i.e., ISO14001 & OSHAS18001)
  • Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level
  • For those who supervise or manage a staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable
  • Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Performs other duties assigned as needed
  • Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level
  • For those who supervise or manage a staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable
  • Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Performs other duties assigned as needed
  • Demonstrate the ability to set up equipment to specifications
  • Have a minimum of one (1) year on-the-job experience as an Operator 3 Level 1. Must have successfully completed the Operator Level 1 review, with confirmation of their ability to perform 100% of all tasks, skills, competencies, and responsibilities of a Level 1 Operator. This includes attainment of minimum performance standards of a Level 1 Operator.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform 100% of all tasks, skills, competencies, and responsibilities of an Operator 3 Level 2.
  • Provide directions and training to other lower level SOT operators.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a High School diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • Satisfactory completion of Operator Certification (OPCERT) for product quality inspection and disposition.
  • Must be able to support 24/7 manufacturing operations and work 12-hour shifts.
  • Ability to work and communicate well with others.
  • Ability to give and understand instructions, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in the MS Office suite of products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Attend required Safety & Environmental Training
  • Satisfactory completion of Compliance Wire assignments.
