The mission of our Lab Services team is to deliver outstanding, efficient, standardized lab services, which support overall business objectives, demonstrate value and return time to science.
The Sr Manager, Laboratory Services is accountable for the execution of the Laboratory Service strategy in the assigned region covering our enterprise-wide programs which include the Enterprise Laboratory Instrumentation Services (ELIS), Laboratory Scientific and Support Services, the Consumables Point of Use (POU) program and Asset Redeployment Management Systems (ARMS).
The candidate will have knowledge of laboratory services, program management capabilities, influencing and negotiating skills with multi-functional teams and an understanding of supplier governance and contracts.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for service delivery and performance across enterprise-wide laboratory services programs in region to improve value for the Business. The Sr. Manager will guide best in class, safe, reliable, compliant, and efficient lab services. Accountable for program delivery through robust vendor performance management, financial planning, and proactive communications and organizationalchange.
Strategy & Leading
- Contribute to the development of the Lab Services strategy while delivering a harmonized strategic approach of Lab Service programs across regions.
- Lead Regional outsourced lab services programs (ELIS, Lab Support Services, POU and ARMS).
- Drive strategy execution and improvement plans with preferred suppliers and business partners. Function as a spokesperson when required for audits, inspections, and customer concerns.
- Lead supplier governance and performance management for the local / regional preferred suppliers.
- Manage regional operational expense budgets, assessing opportunities for the overall lab services experience that will improve financial and operational value by using resources, economies of scale, supply chain standard methodologies and innovations!.
Supplier and Performance Management
- Drive safety requirements and laboratory standards for GLP, GCP and GMP compliance within established lab programs as appropriate for each site.
- Perform functional area - supplier evaluation and improve the program upon campus-wide local /regional needs.
- Support and review periodic updates on program results and solicit feedback on program performance with a focus on continuous improvement, cost savings and scalability.
- Managing the J&J Asset Redeployment Management Program for region by identifying non-used equipment, providing process guidance for sites and supplier level involvement, and help coordinate placing of equipment on asset redeployment networks.
Customer Management
- Develop robust customer relations with key laboratory and procurement managers by gaining and maintaining the respect of the scientific community through engagement.
- Collaborate with local business partners and suppliers to ensure flawless delivery of lab services and leverage opportunities where appropriate.
- Meet regularly with concerned partners to review lab service governance, new opportunities, and performance metrics.
Qualifications
Education:
University/Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Science, Engineering, or related field is required; Master's degree is preferred.
Experience and Skills
Required:
- Minimum of eight to ten (8 -10) years of related experience.
- Proven record within a technical or Research/Lab environment including EHS, compliance and quality critical technical expertise.
- Strong financial competence.
- Ability to effectively partner, build relationships and deliver results in a matrixed environment.
Preferred:
- Experience leading service providers and contracts related to multi-site operations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to adapt emerging standard methodologies, sustainability, and industry innovations to facilities & Laboratory management.
- Strong project management and analytical skills, proven organization, coordination, and action tracking skills.
- Ability to function effectively and multitask when presented with tight deadlines.
- Familiarity and / or experience with ARIBA, Maximo, SAP-PM, MS Office, Trackwise Analytical and reporting tools.
- Customer connections (Share Points, electronic surveys, electronic reports, etc.).
Other:
- Proficiency in the English language (oral and written) is required.
- Up to 25% travel between US sites is required.
