Senior Finance Manager Plant Controller

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Supply Chain (IMSC) Finance is recruiting a Senior Finance Manager to serve as the Plant Controller for the new Large Molecule Drug Substance Facility (BioNC) located in Wilson, North Carolina.

While this role will ultimately support the site operations located in Wilson NC, this role will also be required to support the project phase across both design & construction. For the project design phase, the role will require you to be present with our design teams in the Greater Philadelphia region. Once the design phase is completed, this role will support the construction and operational start-up of the site. For this, you will be required to be on site in Wilson, NC. Based on your current location the hiring team will work with you to determine travel and relocation arrangements. In steady state, we expect travel to be less than 10%.

This role will provide financial leadership for the BioNC site and will sit on the BioNC Leadership Team. The role will report to the Senior Finance Director, IMSC MTO, and will also be a part of the MTO Large Molecule Platform Finance Leadership Team. This position requires a highly motivated individual with strong analytical skills, intellectual curiosity, problem solving abilities and proven leadership capabilities.

As Plant Controller, you will be responsible for providing financial management of the capital investment to design, construct and start-up operations of the new site. The role will also focus on establishing accounting processes and leading all aspects of forecast and close activities. This is a highly strategic role with opportunities to engage with senior leaders across IMSC and Finance.

While this role does not have direct reports and contributes primarily as an individual leader, there will be collaboration and informal people leadership opportunities with broader IMSC Finance team on an ad hoc project basis. A successful candidate would demonstrate agility, curiosity, and strategic leadership and could expect accelerated development across a broad range of finance competencies (Strategic Leader, Business Acumen, Agility and Innovation, Trusted Business Partner, Finance Fundamentals, etc.)

Responsibilities:

  • Lead investment assessments, capital appropriation requests and tracking of BioNC, including financial assessments and strategic framing for reviews at all levels of governance
  • Manage project budget and cross-charge process, including business plan/refresh and quarter close activities; drive budget accountability and forecast accuracy
  • Lead development, alignment, and implementation of financial/accounting processes related to manufacturing activities. This includes supporting financial elements of lease contracts and supply agreements, defining financial flows, and partnering with IT/Finance/TranSCend teams to establish accounting processes and ERP integration
  • Potential ad hoc support of related IMSC network / MTO initiatives


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree is required; concentration in finance or accounting is preferred; Master's Degree/MBA and/or CPA/CMA certification are preferred
  • A minimum of 8 years of finance, accounting, or related business experience is required
  • Previous finance manager experience is required
  • Pharmaceutical / biotech and/or supply chain finance experience is preferred
  • Ability to work independently and provide guidance to cross-functional team in an ambiguous and dynamic environment is required
  • Ability to effectively balance multiple priorities and improve process efficiency is required
