Position summary

This exciting role of Sr. Director, GHE Strategy and Programs, Innovative Medicine, leads the development and execution of the mid to long-term Global Health Equity strategy for Innovative Medicine. They lead an integrated cross-functional team that develops and executes strategic programs designed achieve J&J's aspiration in Health Equity of driving societal impact, fostering employee pride, and enhancing J&J reputation.

The Sr. Director GHE Strategy and Programs will lead a global team leveraging the cross-functional capabilities of the J&J enterprise to set and achieve bold ambitions in Health Equity, solving the world's most pressing Health Equity challenges. This leader will partner closely with the Global Implementation and Impact team, the Innovative Medicine leadership teams, and senior external partners to ensure that focused aspirations are set, measurable goals are established, robust strategies are defined and comprehensive global programs & operational plans at the country level are in place to achieve our aspirations.

The Sr. Director GHE Strategy and Programs is responsible for strategy, budget, and programs that catalyze J&J's best assets to address diseases of disproportionate burden in RLS. They will partner closely with Sector leadership to determine high impact strategies and programs to significantly improve health equity in priority geographies.

Foundational to this role, this leader must be a positive driving force for the culture of GHE as well and be responsible for critical talent development of direct and indirect reports within the GHE organization.

Strategy Development

  • Is responsible for strategy development to solve highly ambiguous, complex Global Health Equity for multiple TAs/Franchises laddering up to Innovative Medicine Sector responsibility.
  • Leads a team of Directors/Managers that sets aspirational vision, delivers measurable impact through meaningful and measurable annual goals, drives from strategy through implementation to impact.
  • Leads the design & execution of enterprise Innovative Medicines strategies to save lives and deliver transformational & measurable health impact in Resource Limited Settings

Internal / External Collaborations and Partnerships

  • Leads a team of Directors/Managers that will maximize impact of J&J capabilities through programs and technologies implemented through operating company partnership and/or external programs partnerships with a focus on making social impact through HCW, particularly nurses and CHW. This leader will ensure we partner internally and externally to collaborate in novel ways that solve complex Health Equity challenges.
  • Partners internally and externally to create global and catalytic external partnerships to deliver comprehensive solutions focused on caring for those who care (these solutions are largely programmatic in nature and can include policy efforts, financing solutions, training and outcomes measurement).
  • Partners with the most senior levels of J&J Sector Leadership (Group Company Chairs, Regional Leaders, Government Affairs) to ensure local execution and delivery of the strategy in RLS

People Leadership

  • Leads direct reports to set strategies and develop high impact programs.
  • Leads in developing talent, identifies and develops key emerging internal talent, identifies talent external to the company for continuous recruitment and working to ensure enterprise capabilities and competencies are built in global health.
  • Works to ensure team members work across boundaries within Johnson & Johnson, to bring the best enterprise capabilities and bridge global, regional and local organizations in setting strategies and executing programs
  • Contributes to a positive culture within the GHE organization

Internal Stakeholder Management

  • Partners closely with respective the Senior Leaders in J&J, Group Company Chairs, Regional Leaders, Legal, Chief Global Value and Access Leader to ensure GHE Senior Leadership Team members to ensure buy-in and alignment from the respective areas in program design and delivery
  • Works to lead a team of Directors/Managers that creates aligned programs across multiple internal and external senior stakeholders ensuring adherence to Global Commercial governance processes and business principles while finding innovative long-term strategies and solutions to improve Health Equity in GHE's Signature areas of focus.
  • Connects and influences across sectors to ensure effective stakeholder management and leveraging capabilities and resources to elevate grand challenge program impact.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 15+ years in relevant roles within healthcare (Public Health, Industry, Healthcare Innovation, Medical Delivery), with demonstrated track - record in driving transformational outcomes through complex matrix partnerships required
  • 10+ years of people management
  • Deep commercial experience in the Pharmaceutical or MedTech industry, driving strategy and execution through a complex matrix and cross functional team
  • A deep understanding of healthcare, shown success in crafting and implementing health care strategies and interventions as well as experience in building strong, collaborative relationships and partnering with multi-lateral organizations
  • Strong leadership and strategic skills; ability to vision the future with respects to anticipating trends, shaping the environment and respond to changes
  • Strong business acumen, action orientation, agility in insight generation and analysis with translation to define strategies and operational plans
  • Experience driving programs across geographic and functional / partner boundaries demonstrating understanding of personal, cultural, environmental and community nuances and varying needs across global/local geographies

Preferred

  • Advanced Degree; MBA, Masters or PHD

Salary

The base pay range for this position is USD $173,000 - $299,000.

Bonus

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.

    • Vacation - up to 120 hours per calendar year
    • Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington - up to 56 hours per calendar year
    • Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays - up to 13 days per calendar year
    • Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
