Role Overview
The Senior Cloud Engineer role is part of Johnson & Johnson public cloud organization. In this role you will be part of a dev/sec/ops team with responsibilities focusing on designing, implementing, and managing cloud solutions that support our business applications. The role will collaborate closely with business application owners and technical product owners to ensure optimum performance, security, and scalability of our cloud infrastructure.
The Senior Cloud Engineer will also have opportunities to create technical solutions, software designs, security policies and operational optimizations. The candidate should be passionate about developing cloud infrastructure patterns, associated security and compliance guardrails, and automations to meet application hosting requirements. Driving the maturity of the AWS service, the Senior Engineer is responsible for creating reference architectures, solution designs, roadmaps, backlog management and value realization of projects and capabilities. This role will actively engage with server, database and application teams as well as AWS external specialists and forums to remain current on industry trends. The AWS Cloud Engineering team uses a combination of cloud-native services and custom-built software to deliver and support cloud capacities.
As a trusted leader in the Cloud Engineering team, your role will be uniquely positioned to work collaboratively with strategic external partners, global leaders and executives across the business and technology to passionately understand our technology needs, define and shape public cloud automation to align with technology needs and improve the overall reliability and performance of services offered.
The role is for an individual with strong technical background in public cloud, architecture, software engineering, product development, microservices, Python REST API based automations, CI/CD deployment pipelines, and multi-cloud solutions in AWS, Azure and GCP. The qualified candidate should be an agile team player who is able to lead and participate on cross-functional teams, gain alignment and drive decision making with CLOUDx and application teams.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
- Consult, Architect, Design and implement public cloud solutions
- Provide engineering support for existing cloud infrastructures, ensuring reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with business applications owners to understand their needs and translate them into technical solutions.
- Work closely with technical product owners to inform strategic decisions regarding cloud architecture.
- Partner with application teams and drive resolution of sophisticated technical problems across infrastructure and application stack.
- Optimize and automate cloud operations and deployment practices.
- Monitor cloud environments and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Ensure security best practices are incorporated into cloud architecture.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and cloud technologies.
- Setup and drive projects crafted to reduce operating expenses and improve efficiencies
- Lead real-time troubleshooting sessions and manage DevOps issues and product enhancements
- Actively participate in all squad ceremonies; leads and optimizes the flow of value using various tools and reporting cadence
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field
- A minimum of 5 years hands-on experience with AWS or Azure engineering with a focus on cloud-native serverless services.
- 2+ years hands-on development experience in Python REST APIs highly preferred.
- 3+ years experience in programing and scripting languages.
- Must have experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) concepts and deployments like Terraform, AWS CloudFormation or Azure Resource Manager
- 3+ years system monitoring and observability platforms with cloud services
- Experience in supporting a global operations footprint and serving in the capacity of a Level 3 point of technical escalation and lead subject matter expert
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Comfortable public speaker and addressing small audiences.
- Self-starter with positive relationship abilities and customer service skills
- Technology thought leadership in the latest advances in the market, trends, and modern technology frameworks (e.g. Agile, DevOps)
- Strong understanding of platform thinking and global experience delivering global platforms while tailoring for regional/local markets

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $100,000 to $172,500.
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
