As a strategic problem solver, technologist, and an expert in multi-cloud financials, this role will empower our public cloud users through the delivery of products and platforms that create exceptional people experiences for employees within the company and for external talent. The FinOps Engineer will work with a wide range of stakeholders to promote a culture of cost accountability and awareness for cloud consumption. This role will implement global FinOps Strategy to create visibility into multi-cloud and on-premises spend trends, optimization opportunities, and drive adoption of FinOps best practices to help control Cloud costs. Key responsibilities of this role will include owning the cloud value framework, financial modeling, budgeting and forecasting, consumption analysis, KPIs, analytics, capacity, and automation.

Responsibilities:

• Support multi-cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) users in understanding their public and private cloud spend and any opportunities for savings

• Lead the Cloud Infrastructure monthly budget and forecast process in managing consumption, and savings in collaboration with accounting, finance, and technical owners

• Ingest billing data and develop analytics to identify spend anomalies. Monitor cloud consumption at the account level to detect, investigate, and escalate anomalies and unplanned spikes

• Analyze, report, and automate the production of meaningful insights from large raw datasets within cloud billing and usage tools, financial systems, CMDB, and other asset inventories as applicable

• Collaborate with account owners to maintain Cost Optimization processes and track resource utilization to define and execute relevant cloud spend commitment

• Design, develop, maintain, and automate reports and KPIs that provide detailed usage statistics of resources across the multi-cloud landscape

• Evaluate and investigate data patterns to derive insightful knowledge that can inform strategic and operational decisions

• Utilize a cloud value framework to identify the optimal hosting location for new applications and any application planned for TLM

• Participate in business case development, cost modeling, Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and trade-off exercises

• Participate in automating, integrating, and maturing the Cloud FinOps team's processes and data

• Analyze cost abnormalities and diagnose root cause

• Document FinOps processes and help socialize standards

• Provide input and recommendations to engineering teams on FinOps features and bug fixes

• Defines and implements controls to streamline processes and support budgetary accountability

Qualifications

Required:

• A minimum of a bachelor's degree

• A minimum of 5 years professional experience

• Deep understanding of cloud-based services usage and pricing; AWS and/or Azure

• Has an innovative, agile, and high-performing teaming mindset

• Technology thought leadership in the latest advances in the market, trends, and modern technology frameworks (e.g. Agile, DevOps)

• Experience in information technology, as a business/data analyst with ability to bridge finance and technology understanding across organization

• Exceptional analytical, communication, conceptual thinking and problem-solving capabilities

• Hands on experience in data ingestion, transformation, and analytics. Synthesis of analysis and research into strategic insights and practical recommendations

• Hands on experience with multiple programming languages -Python, NodeJS, etc.

• Hands on experience developing API's, UI's, and automation.

Preferred Requirements:

• Understanding of container technologies (Kubernetes, Docker)

• Experience in TCO based financial planning and/or budgeting

• Ability to develop and present compelling business cases and budgets and be able gain consensus throughout the organization

• Good oral and written communication skills are preferred

• Self-starter with positive relationship abilities and customer service skills is preferred

• This position based in Raritan NJ and requires approximately 10% travel
