The Global Head of IT is responsible for planning the IT roadmap, leading all activities pertaining to the design, development and implementation of IT infrastructure. This individual will provide strategic leadership at an enterprise level by delivering technology capabilities to meet Shockwave's current and future business needs. As a collaborative and intellectually driven leader, the Global Head of IT will set a common vision and strategy for the IT organization that encourages their team, delivers significant business value to Shockwave and builds a solid foundation for future scalability.
The Global Head of IT must be highly collaborative and capable of developing positive relationships and credibility with key executive leaders across the organization. Additionally, this leader will cultivate a strong external network with vendors, consulting firms, technology companies and startups that will enable Shockwave to benefit from outside insights and solutions. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and gain alignment for an overall IT strategy and associated roadmap that aligns with the business growth strategy for Shockwave.
- Lead an effective IT governance process whereby all key customers are brought into the decision-making process and all ideas are brought forward for discussion.
- Drive the prioritization and decision-making process by aligning business goals with IT resources, identifying initiatives that are of the highest value to the business and gaining consensus for those initiatives.
- Recruit, develop and retain high-performing IT talent. Assess existing talent and structure and develop a team who can implement the IT strategy and deliver value to the company. Build a strong slate of successors within the IT organization.
- Foster a proactive, sophisticated, service-focused IT culture that is responsive to the needs of the business.
- Build an environment that encourages innovation and receptivity to change; encourage intelligent risk taking.
- Monitor external technology changes and be a source of continuous innovation, facilitating speed-to-market and competitive advantage. Leverage technology to help drive innovation in the business.
- Serve as a true peer to other members of the senior leadership team and be capable of contributing to the business strategy and operations of the company at the same level as other business leaders.
- Build and deliver a sustainable and efficient applications strategy and operational plan to continue to build and maintain recently implemented systems.
- Ensure the security and protection of applications and infrastructure; align IT risk management initiatives and lead all disaster recovery plans.
- Establish strategic service provider partnerships and maintain effective IT vendor management governance.
- Lead all aspects of the budget process and all deadlines related to IT, which includes the alignment and allocation of people, projects and performance of all IT and related functions of the organization, including delivery within established corporate guidelines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's level degree or equivalent in Computer Sciences, Information Technology or related subject area is required; an advanced degree (MBA or MS) is preferred.
- Minimum of 15-years of experience in progressively responsible technology leadership roles.
- Related industry experience in medical devices, health-tech or high-tech industries is strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing an IT transformation strategy to help scale an organization.
- Functional leadership across multiple technology domains - inclusive of applications, infrastructure, cybersecurity, data and analytics and digital.
- Demonstrated leadership in successfully developing and maintaining a strong information technology organization.
- Experience working with distributed global teams, including offshoring, outsourcing and third-party contractors and consultants.
- Up to 25% of domestic and international travel is required.
For U.S. applicants, in accordance with applicable disclosure requirements, the anticipated base pay range for this position is $200,000 to $343,850. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
