Position Summary
The Director, New Business Development collaborates with internal business partners to help shape, develop, and execute business strategies as well as external transactions and partnerships to drive growth and influence the direction of the business. The role leads projects with business partners across multiple specialties within Johnson & Johnson. This role is responsible for business development efforts across Johnson & Johnson Vision (both Vision Care and Surgical Vision arms).
The position reports to the Vice President, Business Development, Johnson & Johnson Vision.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify new technologies, products and capabilities externally aligned to business strategy and priorities.
- Partner with business leaders to identify, assess and complete transactions.
- Lead all aspects of business development process including target identification, business case development, due diligence, deal structuring, negotiations and transition planning.
- Lead cross-functional teams and work closely with subject matter experts: J&J Legal, Finance, Health Care Compliance and other functional groups to assess, review, and deliver on BD opportunities.
- Provide recommendations to senior leadership on new strategies, opportunities, tactics and priority projects.
- Deliver oral and written presentations to management to secure approval for execution and funding of new opportunities.
- Build external relationships via trade shows, conferences, networking, and other new sources of information, intelligence, and insights.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree combined with at least 10 years of relevant business experience OR an MBA/other advanced degree combined with at least 8 years relevant business experience is required.
- Licensing, mergers/acquisitions, consulting or banking experience is preferred.
- Experience in developing business cases for opportunities is required.
- Strong business, negotiation, interpersonal, project management, analytical, decision-making, and influence leadership skills are required.
- Ability to effectively communicate and influence a broad variety of business leaders, both internally and externally and of varying levels from functional personnel to senior leaders of companies is required.
- Experience in a customer/external facing role is strongly preferred.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, lead several projects simultaneously are required.
- Strong analytical and operational skills are preferred.
- Experience in the healthcare industry is preferred.
- This role may require up to 25% domestic and international travel.
