Job Description

Primary Function of Position

We are seeking an Application Development Manager with hands-on skills to manage a team of engineers. The responsibilities of this team are to design, develop, deploy, and maintain web applications using state of the art technologies that enable Intuitive internal customers to effectively troubleshoot and service Intuitive products.

This person will guide and mentor their team of software engineers to enhance the service experience. This position requires a good balance of people skills, process management, and technical expertise.

Essential Job Duties

  • Manage, lead, and mentor a team of software developers to deliver enterprise grade applications that integrate with Intuitive products.
  • Work with complex hardware systems and develop diagnostic applications to enable troubleshooting on Intuitive products.
  • Oversee the development, review code, and implement process, standards, design patterns, and architecture to ensure application quality, security, data privacy.
  • Manage applications throughout the entire SDLC including architecture, documentation, code development, integration, release, and production support.
  • Work closely with PMO, Product Management, Developers, Designers, Quality Engineers and other teams throughout the organization to drive the product direction and priorities.
  • Continuous improvements of application performance and address technical debt.
  • Identify, prioritize, and project manage features to completion.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative / team-based approach
  • Ability to drive cross-functional/business projects
  • Hands-on experience / knowledge with the following technologies:
    • Experience with programming languages like Python, JavaScript and typescript.
    • Expert level proficiency in React
    • Experience with FastAPI or Flask
    • Database like MSSQL, MySQL, Snowflake etc.
    • Version control systems like Git
    • CI-CD
  • Familiarity with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) processes
  • Experience with desktop or local application deployments (non-cloud deployment)
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills

Required Education and Training

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years of experience or master’s degree with 5 years of experience in computer science or related field.
  • Proven ability in leading and developing full stack web applications.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience in working with complex data with good understanding of security & privacy
  • Ability in influencing peer managers and other non-direct reports in a matrix style organization
