In the Senior Corporate Counsel (Senior Manager) - Government Relations position, you would be an integral part of the Legal team.

This role will report to the Principal Legal Counsel based in San Francisco and the function will report to the EVP, Chief Legal Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Infosys.

  • Infosys is seeking a strategic public affairs and government relations professional to serve as its Senior Manager of Government Relations in Washington DC. The Senior Manager will be expected to build and develop a strong network with Government and Public Policy officials as well as business and trade associations in Washington DC, North Carolina, Texas, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Indiana and Arizona.
  • The Senior Manager will be expected to collaborate closely with senior business and geographic leaders throughout the organization.
  • The Senior Manager will facilitate high-level meetings between Infosys executives and key partners, including policymakers and executives, industry and business associations, and alliance partners to promote and advocate for Infosys' then current priorities.
  • The Senior Manager will work collaboratively with Infosys' Government Relations team to ensure alignment between core business priorities, public policy goals, and "go to market" strategies.
  • The Senior Manager will need to identify and communicate potential engagement opportunities, public policy and geopolitical threats, develop improvement or mitigation strategies and policy positions; handle and coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs and key initiatives in concert with Infosys' business objectives.
  • The Senior Manager will need to work closely with the Government Relations team on its State level contractual commitments and maintain relationships with local and State governments and associations.
  • The Senior Manager will need to monitor and keep the Company abreast of political and geopolitical developments in North America or those that impact the North America and global businesses.
  • The Senior Manager will need to prepare reports and briefings for internal stakeholders on a regular basis.
  • The Senior Manager will need to work with the Government Relations team to develop, maintain and leverage external relationships to strategically position Infosys as a leading voice on relevant business issues and communications­ related public policy debates, particularly around immigration, tax, labor, and job creation and STEM education.
  • The Senior Manager will need to possess established, bipartisan relationships with key policy makers with all branches of government, with the highest integrity. Given the complex regulatory environment, the candidate should be equally comfortable and authoritative in the regulatory arena as they are with legislative matters. The external aspects of this role require a candidate who is a distinctive representative of the Company before a range of audiences, capable of being a public face, but also working behind the scenes to support other key business leaders.
  • The successful candidate will be results-oriented with outstanding judgment and an ability to make wise, well-informed decisions. The candidate should have the organizational skills necessary to be successful in a large, matrixed environment, where different business and geographic regions may sometimes have different perspectives and needs. The Senior Manager must be a team player who can function in an, at times, ambiguous environment with changing priorities.

Work location : Washington DC
This position may require occasional travel outside Washington DC for stakeholder meetings. This position will have remote-working options.


Qualifications:

Basic:
  • Bachelor's degree is required preferably in a relevant subject area (Political Science, Public Policy, Business, etc)
  • 8 years + experience in government relations and public policy, gained through a combination of senior government affairs roles at other companies or relevant trade associations, and may also include government service.
  • Must be located in the Washington, DC area.
  • Proven understanding of and background in advocacy and public policy development pertaining to technology issues, AI, data governance, immigration and government contracting.
  • Understanding of geopolitical risks and the ability to identify the risks to internal leadership.
  • Established network (or ability to establish one quickly) with business and trade associations.
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal.
  • Ability to influence and persuade others is essential. Must be able to demonstrate excellent judgement/decision making skills, and political acuity.
  • Maintain the highest levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality and integrity.
  • Capable of working both independently and as part of a broader team with internal and external partners, as needed.
  • Self-starter with consistent track record developing strategy, successfully working with a wide array of functional groups across an organization and cultures to implement and deliver on key objectives.
Preferred:
  • Keen business acumen and an ability to connect business issues and profit drivers to government relations and public policy matters, while obtaining value for business interests and protecting against reputational risk.
  • Track record of dealing effectively with all levels of government, and across party lines.
  • An ability to straddle complex legislative, policy and regulatory issues as well as influence government entities.
  • A deep understanding of immigration law issues affecting corporations of a global scope. Of particular interest are the complexities surrounding H-1 B Visas, the immigration Modernization Act, and the SKILLS Visa Act.
  • Strong network with trade and business associations in the technology industry.
  • Possesses a global perspective, with an understanding of complex global policy, political and regulatory implications on an entity that operates in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with business leaders to determine how the government affairs function can promote business goals and objectives.
  • Excellent judgment to make decisions on sophisticated business and policy issues, and act with a view toward what is in the best interest of the company.
  • A creative thinker who can develop and persuasively articulate government affairs and policy idea and solutions that may be different from the prevailing or conventional view - thereby fostering innovative solutions.
  • Interpersonal Skills and networking skills.
