Your Role and Responsibilities

We are now accepting applications for students to become a Workplace Experience and Safety Intern in 2025. Students with varying backgrounds and professional interests and curiosities are encouraged to apply for this unique paid internship experience.

You will be part of the Global Real Estate team. As an intern, you will collaborate with several Global Real Estate teams including Workplace Experience, Safety, Design & Construction, Facilities Management, Strategy & Transactions, Heads of Real Estate and Finance. In your role you will be supported by mentors and coaches who will encourage you to challenge the norm, investigate ideas outside of your role, and come up with creative solutions resulting in ground-breaking impact for the wider business, other business units, and their customers. This position is IBM US office-based at the following location: New York, NY.

Your responsibilities:

  • IBM Workplace Etiquette Program Development: Assist in the continuous improvement and rollout of a comprehensive office etiquette program. This involves researching best practices, external industry standards, collaborating with cross-functional teams to tailor content to IBM culture, tech, space and helping to deliver training sessions or communication materials that promote a positive and respectful work environment.
  • Survey Analysis: Play a critical role in the design, distribution, and analysis of Stakeholder surveys as well as employees feedback. You will work closely with senior team members to assess current workplace sentiments, identify areas for improvement, and provide actionable insights that will shape future workplace strategies.
  • Change Management Support: Support ongoing change management initiatives, particularly in relation to workplace experience and safety. This includes helping to develop communication strategies, preparing materials for workplace engagement, and tracking the effectiveness of change initiatives to ensure a smooth transition during organizational shifts.
  • Safety Program Assistance: Contribute to the enhancement of workplace safety programs by assisting in the assessment of current safety practices, suggesting improvements, and participating in safety training and awareness campaigns.
  • Cross-Org Collaboration: Work closely with shared services, including CIO, HR, and Communications, to ensure the successful implementation of workplace experience and safety initiatives. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate efforts across multiple teams.
