Your Role and Responsibilities

IBM Watson Discovery is an intelligent document processing engine that helps our customers gain insights from complex business documents by visually training AI for deep understanding of their content, including tables and images, to help them find business value that is hidden in their enterprise data. IBM watsonx Orchestrate is a platform that empowers our customers by automating tasks, simplifying complex processes, and ultimately saving you and your team time and effort. We're a high- performing, fast-paced, agile team with the mission to continuously improve our Watson Discovery and watsonx Orchestrate services with new features and capabilities while optimizing scalability and performance.

In this role you will develop, test, deploy and support back-end software products to process and understand business documents at scale, across Cloud and On-premise contexts. You'll use leading edge and proven technologies and techniques from across artificial intelligence, hybrid cloud, programming languages, runtimes, algorithms and data structures towards delivering software products. You'll work in an agile and collaborative environment, with peer developers, managers and architects to translate input requirements and feedback as well as articulate output deliverables and their behaviors. You'll ensure that all software contributions at work are thoroughly tested and evaluated at the unit, component, integration, deployment and end-to-end levels across the product into which they are delivered. You'll write clean, maintainable code with a test-driven development mindset and conduct tests and evaluations covering dimensions of output quality, memory consumption and runtime performance. You'll contribute to CI and CD pipelines to take their changes through various build, test and deployment stages. You'll investigate and aid support team in resolving customer-reported problems and remediate security vulnerabilities across the software stack in a timely manner. You'll author and maintain end-user and peer-developer documentation as well as upholds established best practices and development guidelines on behalf of the team."

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• 5 years of experience delivering solutions in Python and Java.
• Proficiency with linux operating system and common linux utilities
• Proven experience in designing, developing, and deploying micro-services architectures.
• In-depth knowledge of containerization technologies, like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience working with CI/CD tools and methodologies, like Jenkins, Terraform, Helm, and ArgoCD
• Experience in backend system observability, alerting, and monitoring
• Experience with Gradle
• Ability to be a positive mentor for a strong development team.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experience with the major cloud providers (IBM Cloud, AWS or Azure) with a focus on containerization and DevOps practices.
• Strong understanding of cloud security best practices, with experience using tools like Twistlock and Contrast
• Experience with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes and RedHat OpenShift.
• Experience with Kubernetes Operators and the Operator Framework
• Knowledge of cloud-native design patterns and best practices.
• Experience with technical writing in playbooks, documentation, communicating in support tickets, technical design documents.
