Your Role and Responsibilities
As part of the Apptio Global Practice Go To Market (GTM) team within the Customer Success (CS) organization, the Solution Architect - Cloudability will help shape and drive technical best practice architecture and configuration within the Cloudability Product line as well as the other products that integrate with the Cloudability Product line. Armed with deep product expertise from years of customer facing experience, he/she will work cross functionally with other technical consultants to build the best overall technical architecture and solution for the benefit of our customers. As an Apptio technical subject matter expert, the Solution Architect will be responsible for providing sound guidance & recommendations to teams in all phases of the customer lifecycle. To succeed, the Solution Architect must have the aptitude and curiosity to work deeply with the Apptio product suite, the passion to work with innovative technology that is evolving quickly, and the energy to work in an entrepreneurial and fast paced environment.

What We Want You To Do
  • Perform design reviews and propose recommendations that balance business requirements with technical best practices
  • Act as the primary technical liaison between CS and Engineering
  • Broadcast technical bulletins
  • Assist project teams in understanding Engineering recommendations
  • Prioritize and advocate for product improvement ideas reported from the field
  • Produce technical enablement content for the field
  • Distill technical details into consumable concepts that can be explained to consultants and customers
  • Build tools to automate manual processes and analytics to inform future investments
  • Design and implement process changes to improve the technical delivery capabilities of the CS team
  • Participate in technical escalations as necessary
  • Assist with root cause analysis when incidents arise
  • Train future generations of architects

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 5+ years of solid experience in a senior support, consulting, or engineering role for medium to large scale business software company
  • Education in engineering, computer science, MIS, finance or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated skills working with the Cloudability product for several years
  • Cloud Certified Practioner (Cloud Architect preferred)

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills; detail-oriented and curious
  • Expert skills in data analysis/manipulation; versed in formulaic logic (e.g. Excel)
  • Relational database concepts; advanced configuration/scripting/programming skills
  • Ability to prioritize among competing high-priority demands
  • Self-starter - able to come up to speed on complex, difficult concepts with minimal assistance
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to less technical audiences, both internal and external
  • Client-focused attitude -- a customer advocate
  • Team player with solid communication and presentation skills
  • High level knowledge of enterprise IT organizational, business, and technical environments
