Hitachi Energy are looking for a Statutory, Audit and Project Specialist to join us in our Birmingham office, UK. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with an enthusiasm for continuous improvement. This role includes the organisation and control of the statutory reporting process for trading entities in the UK and Ireland. You lead the external audits for both the statutory accounts and the quarterly reviews. You may also be provided with the opportunity to become involved in various Group and Local projects which arise.
Your responsibilities
- Understanding, promoting and guiding business on Group Accounting Standards
- Being responsible for the preparation of statutory accounts for the UK and IE
- Ensuring internal/external audits and other statutory audits are handled with high standards, in a professional manner and the findings are addressed and resolved in a timely way.
- Driving implementation of best practices and continuous optimization of local processes to gain efficiencies and drive productivity gains
- Managing relationship with business to ensure that audit inputs are defined and delivered as agreed.
- Developing relationship with all stakeholders to ensure good customer service.
- Deputising the Front Office Finance Manager where needed and cover in times of holidays and absences.
- Ensuring full compliance with the Internal Control Framework through adherence to review procedures, and further manage the relationship for review with Internal and External Audit teams.

Your background
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field or equivalent work experience.
- Preferably more than 3 years of experience in general accounting area
- Finalist or newly qualified accountant of a recognised accounting body
- Good knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP
- Experience of producing sets of Statutory accounts and experience with SAP
- Governance and Internal Control Framework understanding
- JSOX exposure
