Hitachi Energy seeks to employ a Specialist - Service Bids and Proposals to prepare proposals and service agreements for small and large service opportunities as related to the Substation Automation and communications business, located in Raleigh NC USA. The ideal candidate would possess an electrical engineering degree and a minimum of five years' relevant experience.

Typical duties/responsibilities:
- Plan and prepare complete technical and commercial service proposals for substation automation systems, in an efficient and timely manner as demanded by requests for proposals as well as bidding/specification deadlines.
- Follow the Systems proposals process flow and document each stage.
- Review and analyze customer specifications and data from other Hitachi Energy teams to compile information for bids and prepare proposals, responsive to customer requirements
- Utilize internal systems and processes for generation of Proposals as well as storage of all technical and pricing data generated during the process of generating proposals.
- Prepare larger service agreements for long term service and support, covering areas such as strategic spares, audits, cybersecurity assessments, incident management, ad-hoc support, consultancy etc.
- Complete cost estimates for new bids, contract changes and requests for quotations utilizing basic engineering data, drawings, customer specifications and related information. Summarize total cost estimates and commercial terms. For complex projects work with systems architects to develop and complete specifications, compliance tables etc.
- Develop and assist in the preparation of documents such as commercial agreements, pricing spreadsheets, as well as coordinate legal reviews, risk analysis, risk reviews, and related paperwork such as mitigation worksheets, cash flow information and tax analyses.
- Support in the preparation of Monthly reports and metrics, won/lost order matrices and analyses.
- Support in updating the marketing and proposal databases and systems to optimize efficiency of the bid preparation processes.

Position Qualifications:
- Preferably a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Electronic or communications engineering.
- Five plus years' experience in the electrical power systems field within the substation or power automation systems domain will be preferred.
- Some experience with SCADA, Substation Automation bid preparation, including system architectures, relay product selection etc. is desirable.
Desired competencies:
- Knowledge of electrical power and industrial system applications
- Knowledge of the MV/HV/EHV Power System Protection, Utility Communications and Substation Automation systems business and customers
- Knowledge and understanding of commercial terms and conditions, Incoterms etc.
- Excellent technical English writing skills. Some Spanish and French knowledge would be an added asset.
- Strong communication skills are required to complement your ability to direct team preparing routine and non-routine proposals. Ability to manage and work well with others (sales, engineering, management and vendors) in creating proposals that meet the customer's expectations, is the overall goal.
- Software skills and the ability to utilize organized database environments are a strong plus; Microsoft Office skills are a must. Knowledge of working with tools and portals such as salesforce.com, and other Hitachi Energy tools is desirable.
