At Hitachi Energy we are investing to establish and develop an Operation Center of Excellence in Madrid, Spain (ESOPC) within Grid & Power Quality Solutions business in Europe (HBUEU). Therefore, we are seeking highly qualified engineers in the fields of Power Electronics, Grid Integration, and Research and Development (R&D) to join us in this exciting opportunity.

In this context, with a pioneering technology-leading offering, Hitachi Energy's Power Electronics Solutions Team supports the green energy transition with technologies that bring resilience, stability, and increased capacity to the power grid.
Hitachi Energy provides solutions to electrify and power networks and systems, including power electronic systems for power conversion and quality.
As part of the Spanish Operation Centre, you will be part of a team to support the design, manufacturing and delivery of such technologies all over Europe.
How you'll make an impact
- Design, implement and verify power control algorithms and logic for FACTS devices.
- Maintain extensive contact with other engineering groups, lead engineers, local Hitachi Energy offices, and customers to meet varying control functionality requirements.
- Perform combined testing of the control system software and hardware.
- Understand customer needs by reading customer specifications and participating in customer meetings.
Your background
- A BSc or MSc in engineering is required, ideally with a specialization in Control Systems, Power Systems, Automatic Control Theory, Software Engineering, or a similar field.
- It will be highly valued experience in similar engineering roles, working with electrical power plants, converter stations, process control systems, or substation automation, FACTS or HVDC.
- Proficiency in English is essential for this role, given the international nature of our work environment. Additional language skills will be highly valued
- Knowledge of power quality applications and experience of the MACH™ system will be an added advantage.
- We seek a driven, team-oriented achiever who can work independently and take responsibility for tasks.
Willingness to travel: Required up to 10%.
