As part of the Spanish Operation Centre, you will be part of a team supporting project execution, including the design, manufacturing, and delivery of such technologies all over Europe.
As Team Leader you will lead the Team of Primary Engineers within Hitachi Energy Grid Integration, Operation Center, Madrid. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will drive team collaboration and performance to ensure that safety, integrity, financial and contractual requirements are met, and customer expectations are exceeded.
How you'll make an impact
- Lead Engineering Team, understanding and applying company framework in terms of Company Purpose, Values, leadership model and competences. Promote an environment of psychological safety and speak up culture.
- Oversee Primary, Steel, and Civil Engineering for HV/MV Substations and Power Electronics Solutions. Ensure timely and complete delivery of Engineering Work Packages, focusing on safety, quality, and budget and ensuring proper interfaces with other related engineering disciplines and functions.
- Networking and Collaboration with other related areas (as Procurement & Logistics, Operations, Quality, etc.) Develop a network within the Engineering Management Team of the Europe HUB
- Engineering Support: Establish and maintain support setups with internal customer-facing Operating Units (OU's) across continental Europe.
- Customer Relationships: Build and maintain relationships with internal customer-facing OU's, seek feedback, and provide innovative solutions during tendering and project execution phases.
- People and Competency Development: Guide, motivate, coach, and develop employees to the best of his Potential. Facilitate and promote people development of competencies and skills as per customer and market requirements.
- Resource Management: Ensure Project Teams are adequately organized, staffed and equipped to meet business needs.
- Contract and System Management: Ensure contracts are well understood and required systems are correctly implemented.
- Financial Planning and Budget Management: Support financial plans creation and budget estimation for tenders, projects, and own cost centre. Regularly review actual cost development and initiate mitigation measures for budget gaps. Apply entrepreneurial thinking for tenders, projects, and local units.
- Guide and lead the team to their best performance, ensure customer focus, accountability and innovation.
Your background
- University degree in Engineering (electrical engineering highly preferred)
- 5 to 10 years' experience as Primary Engineer, Lead Engineer, previous Engineering Manager experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of substation technology for AIS, GIS and Hybrid Technology Switchgear. Understanding of the Engineering tasks in Primary, Secondary, Steel and Civil Engineering as well as all the interfaces between all of them; expert knowledge in Substations.
- Multifunctional experience with handling plant/system projects beyond pure engineering tasks; experience in dealing with engineering project delivery and Industrial/Power sector and multinational environment
- Attitude in leading & motivating a team in a multi country collaboration setup with a focus on policy, capability, effectivity and people development.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach and strong communication skills and multicultural sensitivity.
- Fluent in both English and Spanish. Other languages is a plus.
