The Hitachi Energy Indian Operations Center (INOPC) is a competence center with around 2300 skilled engineers who focus on tendering, engineering, planning, procurement, functional system testing, installation supervision and commissioning. However, over the last decade, it has evolved to become the largest engineering hub. The India Operations Centre is a key aspect of the Power Grids business Power Up transformation program. The INOPC team at Chennai supports Hitachi Energy's units in more than 40 countries across a wide portfolio of all the four business units in Power Grid business. To date, the team has executed engineering and commissioning for projects in more than 80 countries.

You will contribute and support the team to meet successful results in Research & Development projects development for our Transformer Business Unit in Monselice (PD). A Digital Engineer plays a crucial role in advancing an organization's digital transformation initiatives. This professional combine technical expertise with a deep understanding of digital systems, software, and processes. As a Digital Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of innovation, contributing to the design, implementation, and optimization of digital solutions.
Your responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including electrical and mechanical engineers, software engineers, and quality assurance) to develop and integrate digital solutions.
- Contribute to the development of Common Platforms for Product's design: translate business requirements into technical specifications and design robust digital systems.
- Implement and maintain software applications using languages such as .NET, C#, and Python.
- Utilize relational databases, including MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, or Oracle, to store and retrieve data efficiently.
- Design and optimize database schemas for performance and scalability.
- Develop web-based interfaces and applications that enhance user experiences.
- Create efficient processes for data handling, automation, and real-time transaction processing & stay up to date with web technologies including SharePoint, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and AJAX.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend their adoption for digital projects.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices.
- Collaborate as part of an Agile SCRUM team, ensuring rapid delivery while maintaining code quality.
- Adhere to enterprise-class non-functional requirements (e.g., performance, availability, scalability).

Your background
- BE in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related disciplines and at least 5 years of related working experience
- 5 years of experience in Digital Engineering with innovation, contributing to the design, implementation, and optimization of digital solutions.
- Knowledge on Digital Passport is a plus (Create secure digital identities for users, devices, or assets)
- Knowledge on Digital Twin is a plus (Develop digital replicas of physical assets or systems for simulation, monitoring, and predictive maintenance on power transformers).
- Knowledge on BuildingInformation Modeling.
- Ability to quickly grasp concepts from a field that is not one's core competency; A fast learning generalist capable of solving problem independently and resourceful in matrixed corporate environment.
- Proficiency in both spoken and written English language.
