HERE Tracking provides visibility and predictability to global logistic networks like never before. Attaching a small tracker to every shipment in the world enables us to predict delays, save costs and optimize the deliveries to save environment.

For the HERE Tracking team we are looking for a Lead Data Scientist to develop predictability services.

Big data, Machine learning, Computer Vision and Artificial intelligence are big words. At HERE we put you to the prime spot to work on integrating these technologies into existing Tracking Cloud infrastructure. Every day HERE sources insane amounts of noisy, raw data from a wide range of sources - these inputs are used to improve our services like maps and positioning. To be able to efficiently use these data we need to understand the characteristics of this data - what's in there and what's the best way to process the data.

The greatest part of this job is to work as a key member of the product team building the machinery that uses the data. Your findings and ideas on how to manipulate will be the key input for the machinery implementation. Nothing is better than seeing your ideas being integrated to power our global services. This is true Win Together spirit, another of our core values - nobody can make these things tick alone, but everyone is still a key to the success.

Responsibilities:

  • You will maintain up-to-date knowledge of research activities in the general fields of machine learning, specifically for ETA feature inference.
  • Participate in both algorithm and software developments as a part of a scrum team, and contribute artifacts (software, white-paper, datasets) for project reviews and demos.
  • Collaborate with internal and external team members (researchers and engineers) on expertly implementing the new features to the products or enhancing the existing features. With end-to-tend aspects like developing, testing, and deploying.

Data Analysis & Reporting:

  • Analyze large datasets from various sources such as transportation systems, warehouses, customer orders, and real-time tracking data.

  • Extract actionable insights to optimize logistics processes, improve supply chain performance, and reduce operational costs.

Predictive Modeling & Machine Learning:

  • Build and deploy predictive models to forecast demand, delivery times, inventory levels, and route optimization.

  • Use machine learning techniques such as regression, classification, and clustering to solve real-world logistics challenges.

  •

Big Data & Advanced Analytics:

  • Leverage big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) to process large datasets and perform advanced analytics.

  • Use geospatial analysis to optimize delivery routes, warehouse placement, and fleet management.

Collaboration & Cross-Functional Teamwork:

  • Work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and software developers to deploy solutions that drive business value.

  • Translate business requirements into analytical solutions and ensure alignment with overall business objectives.

Who are you?

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Data Scientist, Data Analyst, or similar role, preferably in the logistics, transportation, or supply chain industry.

  • Experience with statistical analysis, machine learning, and optimization techniques.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, NodeJS or SQL.

  • Experience with machine learning platforms (e.g. Amazon SageMaker).

Would be a plus

  • Familiarity with big data platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) is a plus.

  • Experience in geospatial analytics (e.g., GIS tools, ArcGIS) is a plus.

What we offer?

  • Work with cutting edge, modern technologies
  • A great work-life balance
  • Fantastic & talented people from 60+ countries worldwide
  • Opportunities to learn and grow: company hackathons, technical talks, and training
