Description and Requirements
The AVP Vendor Contracting is responsible for all aspects of vendor contracting including strategic approach, negotiations, implementation, and ongoing issue resolution. The AVP partners and leads cross-functionally to assess, design, and develop business solutions to effectively negotiate business terms for delegated vendor relationships. The ideal candidate is a contracting subject matter expert in the industry and stays current with market rates, with a proven track record to realize both administrative spend and medical cost savings within the contracted relationships. The incumbent leads and oversees a risk-based vendor management program, exercising effective vendor management governance and operation consistent with Healthfirst's values, policies, and procedures as well as vendor compliance with relevant federal and state laws/regulations and contractual performance standards. Reporting to and consistently interacting with Healthfirst senior leadership team, exercises a significant degree of high-touch relationship management, appreciation for highly regulated businesses and commitments, attentive focus on execution and result-orientation, and effective leadership accountability.

- Effectively negotiate rates, service level agreements and key business terms in delegated vendor contracts to realize savings and to mitigate company risk.
- Lead negotiations and participate in RFP and other business development opportunities and supports due diligence and evaluation process for new potential vendors as needed.
- Reviews claims data and expense details for multiple delegated services to identify medical spend savings opportunities at each vendor.
- Lead and direct employees with responsibilities in vendor contracting to successfully negotiate contracts for delegated vendors and other key procurement needs such as outsourcing and IT contracting.
- Provide senior leadership-level oversight and guidance across all vendor management risk areas between vendors and business owners
- Lead coordination with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Finance, Compliance, Legal and IT / Security to conduct enterprise risk assessment & technical due diligence of vendor selection. Participates in assessing risk associated with services being subcontracted and vendors being considered
- Actively engage and partner with teams responsible for vendor contracting specifically in the areas of Providers, Delegated Vendors, and Ancillary Vendors.
- Serve as thought leader in cross-functional work to establish appropriate Service-Level Agreements (SLAs) and benchmarks/ metrics for vendor relationships.
- Provide an escalation point to resolve vendor performance issues and communicate unresolved issues or compliance risks to executive management for discussion and action planning
- Performs other duties as necessary or assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience
- Experience managing others in positions of increasing responsibility
- Previous experience in managing healthcare vendor performance and relationships
- Experience with Medicare/Medicaid and Commercial Healthcare
- Experience communicating to senior leadership and cross-functional groups within an organization
- History of demonstrated ability to manage, mentor, and optimize performance of others
- Experience having developed and implemented an effective vendor management strategy with high impact

- Change leadership skills coupled with exceptional relationship building and influencing ability

Hiring Range:
- Greater New York City Area (NY, NJ, CT residents): $164,700 - $252,025
- All Other Locations (within approved locations): $164,700 - $252,025
As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, licenses and certifications, and any other factors Healthfirst deems pertinent to the hiring decision.
