HYBRID: Position is on a hybrid schedule—Mondays are work from home, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in our Midtown NYC office. Company laptop will be provided for the duration of the program.

Weekly schedule: 28 hours per week, Monday-Thursday, 9:00am-5:00pm, with a one-hour lunch break
Pay rate: $16/hour
Position open to all; no current enrollment or degree required.
About the role:
This position will support and learn from the Marketing & Publicity department for the Workman, Artisan, and Black Dog & Leventhal groups, allowing insight into a variety of industry niches, responsibilities, and experiences.
WORKMAN publishes award-winning nonfiction, including cookbooks, parenting/pregnancy guides, humor, self-help, and more. Known for innovations that have stretched the boundaries of traditional books, combined with intensive and creative marketing, Workman has produced a string of iconic bestsellers that include What to Expect® When You’re Expecting, 1,000 Places to See Before You Die®, and Steven Raichlen's Project Smoke.
ARTISAN publishes highly designed, beautiful works of art that inspire and instruct, covering topics from food to art to fashion to gardening to travel.
BLACK DOG & LEVENTHAL publishes content-rich, visually captivating books that offer readers an immersive portal into their favorite subjects in the categories of Popular Culture, Entertainment and Art, Science and Math, History, Sports and Recreation, and Reference.
As an HBG Marketing & Publicity Intern for these imprints, you will have the opportunity to work closely with seasoned professionals and gain hands-on professional experience as you own day-to-day tasks, help with special projects, and attend departmental meetings.
To enhance your work experience, we offer educational sessions featuring speakers from all departments of the company as well as networking and career development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Interest in commercial adult nonfiction
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Familiar with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Canva, and G-Suite applications
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under deadlines
- Ability to learn new software programs
- The ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively while also maintaining accuracy
- Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment
- An excitement for participating in and contributing to a fun, vibrant work environment with great company culture
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with social media influencer campaigns and growing our influencer database
- Helping brainstorm, create, and schedule social media posts for Instagram and TikTok
- Researching new media contacts and outlets that would be interested in covering our books
- Researching brand partners for book-specific collaborations
- Assisting with administrative tasks, including organizing mailings, managing spreadsheets, saving press clips, etc.
- Attending department meetings and actively contributing ideas
