Hachette Book Group’s central advertising team is seeking an individual with experience in media planning and/or book publishing to oversee the execution of ad campaigns for Hachette’s fiction titles and collaborate with the Advertising Director to drive the continual advancement of Hachette’s strategic advertising initiatives and data & technology infrastructure.
The advertising manager will bring a data-driven and entrepreneurial mindset to HBG’s advertising program and be expected to aid in the continual improvement of our advertising strategy and execution by monitoring and acting upon industry-wide trends and performance. The ideal candidate has excellent project management and communication skills and has experience bringing and executing new and exciting ideas to the company. Ad strategies will be driven by the needs of single-title campaigns, holiday and current event campaigns, and wide-ranging brand campaigns for major repeating authors like Michael Connelly, Elin Hilderbrand, Colleen Hoover, Abby Jimenez, and more. The candidate must be able to handle multiple campaigns while working within a fast-paced environment.

The advertising manager will report directly to the Advertising Director and work collaboratively across all of Hachette’s division, specifically fiction publishers.
Essential duties & responsibilities:
- Shepherds advertising plans for a wide range of titles through every phase - ideation, planning, revisions, creative development, trafficking, optimizing, and reporting
- Advocates for investments that are rooted in data and learnings from companywide reporting
- Oversee the administration and organization of various advertising accounts
- Help lead HBG’s upfront planning, negotiations, and tracking with major media partners
- Develop a deep understanding of workflows and needs with an eye toward streamlining workflows and reducing friction points within the advertising planning & execution process
- Collaborate with imprint title marketers to establish campaign goals and audience targets to ensure that our work meets the mark.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in marketing or advertising at a book publisher, media company, or ad agency
- Proficiency with various programmatic platforms, specifically Amazon, Meta, and Google and preferably has experience with TikTok, ad servers, and/or demand-side platforms
- Ability to autonomously prioritize, communicate deadlines for, and ultimately deliver thoughtful, data driven work product for a high volume of requests
- Superb communication and project management skills
- Is curious and ambitious about how to drive change and innovation by improving work product or process, and challenges accepted norms where appropriate
- Interest in and enthusiasm for book publishing, advertising, and marketing
- A strong understanding of advertising and marketing analytics and a proven ability to analyze data to set benchmarks and ROI expectations for specific outlets.

The compensation range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
