Position Title: Senior Operator Lead, Floating Shift
Hiring Manager: Marta Corfield, Manufacturing Manager, Plant Management
Location: Avon, Ohio
Shift: Floating Lead
Summary:
- The purpose of the Production Operations Lead is to assist in covering supervision time off as needed on a rotating basis
- To assist with employee training and continuous improvement projects
- To develop someone for a future production supervisor position
- Areas: Staging/Cooking/Filling/Packing
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Proficient in working in various production areas or rooms and able to train new employees as needed.
- Key resource for training new or current employees on department procedures, job tasks and work instructions. Ensures all GMP's and safety rules are being followed according to company policy.
- Creates a teamwork environment with employees and leads by example as a role model.
- Completes all necessary production paperwork required.
- Cleans and sanitizes according to the Master Sanitation Schedule and performs other required cleaning as needed.
- Follows daily production schedule in proper sequence.
- Ability to run CIP's on equipment for processing areas.
- Collaborates with maintenance on equipment issues to prevent downtime and creates work orders as needed.
- Assists with start-up or shutdown procedures to ensure efficient changeover times in the processing areas.
- Shadows shift supervisor to understand and learn shift responsibilities to provide assistance with coverage.
- Must be able to cover various shifts to support the business.
- Be able to utilize and communicate/teach RedZone software with production team members.
- Understands and sustains the 5S process throughout the plant
- Lead RedZone huddles, coaching, driving actions, assigning tasks etc.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
- Reports out Shift Results and exchanges with supervisors leaving and reporting onto shift.
Qualifications:
Education
- High school diploma required
Avon Factory Experience
- Food manufacturing with liquid processing preferred.
- Demonstrates ability to operate equipment and understands process for any 3 out of the 4 functional areas: Staging/Cooking/Filling/Packing
- 1-3 years operations experience in multiple departments.
Language Skills
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with individuals and small groups. Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate percentages, proportions, and basic concepts of algebra. Ability to calculate and understand business indices and interpret graphs.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed oral and written instructions. Ability to analyze and solve problems.
Computer Skills
- Proficient using Apple OS, MS Outlook, Excel, Word and Power Point.
- Experience using EPR systems such as SAP or DAX.
- Ability to conduct training using Alchemy Manager and Redzone.
Other Qualifications
- Must be able to complete company's forklift certification program to operate an electric pallet jack, stand-up forklift and other PIE equipment necessary.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk to communicate and listen effectively. This will require both office and plant floor environments. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee will occasionally need to operate and drive a forklift or electronic pallet jack to transport materials or goods.
Environmental Concerns
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to cold temperatures in a refrigerated cooler or freezer.
