Title: Sanitation Specialist

Purpose:
The Sanitation Specialist ensures the cleanliness and hygiene of the entire facility in compliance with food safety standards and company policies. This role plays a critical part in maintaining a safe, sanitary environment to support the manufacturing of high-quality food products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors across the entire facility, including production areas, break rooms, restrooms, and offices.
- Wipe down and sanitize tables, chairs, countertops, and equipment surfaces.
- Dispose of trash and recyclables properly, ensuring bins are regularly emptied and cleaned.
- Follow cleaning schedules and procedures to meet food safety standards, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Use appropriate cleaning agents, tools, and equipment in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Ensure that all cleaning supplies are stocked, properly stored, and accounted for.
- Deep clean production equipment and areas as needed or per the request of management.
- Perform periodic cleaning of hard-to-reach areas such as vents, walls, and ceilings.
- Respond to spills, hazards, or contamination risks promptly and effectively.
- Record completed cleaning tasks as required for compliance and auditing purposes.
- Report any facility damage, maintenance needs, or safety hazards to the Management.
- Work closely with the production team to minimize disruptions during the cleaning activities.
- Assist other team members as needed in maintaining a clean and organized facility.
- Other duties assigned by Supervisor.
- Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and their importance in food safety.
- Familiarity with cleaning and sanitizing procedures, including the proper use of cleaning products, disinfectants, and tools.
- Knowledge of cross-contamination prevention and hygiene protocols specific to food manufacturing.
- Understanding of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines to ensure safe handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Knowledge of personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Functional knowledge of waste segregation and disposal practices, including recycling initiatives.
- Familiarity with tracking and managing cleaning supplies, ensuring proper stock levels to avoid disruptions.
- The ability to identify and resolve sanitation-related challenges, such as unexpected spills or equipment malfunctions, in a way that minimizes business impact.
- Adaptability to changing priorities or schedules to meet production needs.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in sanitation or cleaning, preferable in a food manufacturing environment.
- Basic understanding of GMPs. Food safety, and sanitation principles.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment (e.g., floor scrubbers, pressure washers).
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stand, and work in varying temperature conditions.
