As the Director of Portfolio Management at Imperial, you will take the reins of our IT project portfolio, guiding our MIS Project Management Team to new heights. Working with minimal supervision, you will champion the vision and values of Imperial, shaping and enforcing cutting-edge project management and business analysis methodologies, standards, tools, and best practices. Your leadership will be pivotal in driving strategic initiatives, special projects, and programs. Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the VP of Information Technology to spearhead strategic planning and coordinate activities across all functional areas.
  • Take a leadership role in the MIS team, driving short and long-term planning initiatives.
  • Innovate and implement best practices, processes, tools, and procedures for portfolio, program, and project management.
  • Engage continuously with Business Leads, Executive Leadership, and the MIS VP to ensure project portfolio priorities align seamlessly with business needs and expectations.
  • Deliver comprehensive and compelling status reports to project portfolio stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Lead and inspire the Project Management team, managing all personnel responsibilities, including hiring, goal setting, motivating, performance reviews, professional development, salary recommendations, and discipline/terminations.
  • Oversee portfolios consisting of multi-project programs, providing organization, guidance, and review of Project Management efforts.
  • Direct the Project Management team to define project scope, requirements, goals, and deliverables that support outstanding business outcomes in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Foster continuous technical and professional development through formal and informal training, ongoing coaching, and mentoring.
  • Keep a vigilant eye on the overall project portfolio budget, tracking actual vs. projected expenditures, and investigating any discrepancies to ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Cultivate and manage effective relationships with senior leadership across the organization and the parent company, influencing processes, decisions, and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the MIS Leadership team to create, review, and consolidate project plans, ensuring resource alignment and resolving potential conflicts.
  • Identify, analyze, and manage portfolio risks, providing expert risk management guidance to the Project Management team.
  • Lead contract negotiations, scope of work discussions, and ongoing cost management related to Third Party Vendors.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirement: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience, 5 years of Project Management experience, and ERP implementation.

Preferred Education and Experience: MBA or Master's degree. Project Management Certification. 8+ years of Project Management experience, 4+ years leading large, complex projects or programs, and 3+ years leading teams.
